I didn't remember this so looked it up. He was traded sometime during the 1988 season to the Dodgers and started 9 games but then spent '89 with them too. However, he only pitched 14 innings (3 starts) for them that year, so I assume he was injured.

He then came back to the Cardinals in 1990 and went 12-4, pitching 146 innings with an ERA of 2.40. That was his last season according to the records. So anyway, not quite the same scenario.
