Vic Scott or Spencer Jones for CF 2026?
VSII either needs to improve his hitting, a lot, or be replaced as starting CF next year. Unfortunately, his month by month performance is not predicting improvement, but rather a decline as the league figures him out. Many times he has looked so overmatched he doesn't even attempt to swing the bat for a hit but just plays for a BB.
OPS by month
April - .743
May - .615
June - .627
July- .507
not sure the difference between tOPS+ vs sOPS+ but the latter is only 43 for this month.
Meanwhile Spencer indeed plays CF, is MLB ready, and would only need to hit 2 HRs a Month to outhit VSII. His ceiling is a lot more than 2.

I'll take Jones....I guess? We know what Scott is...he's a .600 OPS CF. Jones can probably get you close to .700 OPS with the same BA as Scott. Power is better. The miss part will be brutal...it's like a skinnier Gorman in CF

When did we get Spencer Jones?
Re: Vic Scott or Spencer Jones for CF 2026?
we could try Church...maybe?
My hope and prayer is 2027 and Honeyman or Baez can bridge the gap to a Padilla or a Mitchell.
We need good consistent bat in CF. I can take the hit on speed in CF, not everyone is an 80grade speed ....Scott is just a Hamilton freak like that.

Yanks have moved on. They picked up McMahon for third base for next two years and have Chisholm at second. Dominguez is in left field. They are looking for pitching

Yeah, lets see what we have in Church, sounds like the glove, speed and arm will play for him there. Big question being an at least serviceable bat.
I think we can get a higher tier prospect for Donnie if we go that route, Jones seems like a B tier, which is great. But we should at least be able to flirt with A tier for a higher value Donnie, all star, versatile, competent glove in multiple spots and an above avg bat

Why isn't Church here then? We can't spend yet another year just trying to "figure out what we've got" at the MLB level.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 20:15 pmcraviduce wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 19:54 pmwe could try Church...maybe?

Judge went on the IL and the Yankees didn’t call up Jones.

He is injured and not on the 40 man roster. An Old Friend wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 20:32 pm Judge went on the IL and the Yankees didn’t call up Jones.

That's what I think works. Jones is just a guy in the next pasture, too expensive to reach if it costs us Donovan.craviduce wrote: ↑28 Jul 2025 19:54 pmwe could try Church...maybe?

We're 3.5 back in the WC, Mo isn't selling.
