Trade with Philly. Would ya?

Post by TraveledLessRoad »

Would you guys make this trade?

FanSided's Quinn Everts recently proposed a blockbuster mock trade that would send St. Louis Cardinals stars Ryan Helsley and Brendan Donovan to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for prospects Aidan Miller, Mick Abel, and Carson DeMartini.

Would like to keep Donovan, but that’s a good deal! JJ kind of make Donovan expendable….

No, and I'll tell you why...never heard of them and would expect you to tell us more so we can decide without having to do homework

Please post why we'd want these players...like what position they play, latest years stats and level, RH or LH...is that too much to ask

-Miller/SS
.217 .336 .350 .686 at AAA

-Abel/RHP
Phils
6 GS
5.04 ERA

-DeMartini/3B
.206 .295 .290 .585 at AA

PASS

Mo/Bloom can do way better for Helsey/Donny package.

Mick Abel is the 6th ranked prospect in Phillies system . A 6-5 pitcher who was excellent in AAA starts. Abel's name has been mentioned as the trade bait for Arizona's Suarez .

Baseball America has Miller as the Pre 2025 #36 prospect. In 2024 it had Abel as the #64. DeMartini is in his first FULL year as a pro, he hit good at A+ but so far (131 AB) failing at AA (he's 22)

I'd agree that I'd pass

I’m asking for Painter for those two. Nothing less

No, the reason is that Miller is basically a middle infielder that hasn’t developed a power stroke yet and is not hitting well. Able has been up and down as a pitcher. I rather have Crawford even though he hits left handed as he is ready next year. Getting Crawford would also allow them to move Nootbaar. If they don’t want to move Crawford then ask for Painter and a high upside young player like right handed power bat hitting prospect Burkholder.
Painter still has Ace potential but has struggled still this year.

Now you’ve got me nervous. Looks like the kind of guys we got back from the 2023 sell off.

No doubt CW!

And those prospects have almost all turned into suspects. :x

if they are prospects on another team by definition they will be deemed far better than anything we have

Yeah...none of that seems exciting and Cards don't need another SS

I would be VERY interested in a deal getting Abel and Miller.

As for a 3rd prospect, I’d rather take a swing and ask for guys like Griffin Burkholder or Keaton Anthony (RHH 1B).

Miller just turned 21 and has 8 HR / 37 SB in just 77 games with plus plate discipline. This is exactly the type of athlete they should be targeting.

Abel is what a lot of top of the rotation types look like… a big 6’5” pedigreed soon to be 24 year old righty. He’d be great to pair with Liberatore going forward
