Alexandrov signed
I think he has a sneaky chance to be a 3rd line winger this year.
Re: Alexandrov signed
1 year, 2way deal.
Probably walks if he doesn’t get NHL time this year and I don’t see many scenarios where he gets NHL time.

Re: Alexandrov signed
If he's going to break into a spot on the Blues this is his chance. Needs a role in the NHL, otherwise he's likely a tweener. Is he going to knock Toro off the 4th line? Neighbours off the 3rd? Holloway, Buchnevich? Off-wing? All very unlikely.

Re: Alexandrov signed
Pretty decent raise on his AHL salary - $300k. With $350k guaranteed. So yeah, that’s enough to deter him from going to the KHL.
Agree with kimzey that he’s still very much on the outside looking in though. I could see him getting some games with the Blues depending on how injuries shake out and how well he performs but I just don’t see him as an NHLer.

Re: Alexandrov signed
He seems to be another Michel Mongeau or Ty Rattie.
Pretty good in the A, but can’t make it in the show

I'd rather watch him then Sunny.
Even if he doesn't play in the NHL game. A career playing in the second best league in the world for over 300k isn't so bad.

not worried about him in the nhl. agree with others he's a tweener
more worried about him taking ice time in the A that is needed to develop actual prospects

Re: Alexandrov signed
With the Bolduc move I don't see any reason why he couldn't secure a spot if he earns it.
Re: Alexandrov signed
Seems the Blues want to at the very least hold onto him.
Might be for injury duty or might be they believe he can be a player in the nhl.
I'd love to see him up here again and show what he has, one way or another....seems odd to write off a 24 year old who scores in the lower league.
He might be a good trade chip too and get his chance elsewhere.

Re: Alexandrov signed
He’d have to beat Sunny, Joseph and Texier plus out perform Dvorsky and the other prospects(Kaskimaki, Dean, Robertson, Peterson, Carbonneau) to claim the spot.
I don’t see him doing that.

Re: Alexandrov signed
What's the going rate for a prime aged AHL scorer without the jam to play bottom six in the NHL, or a defining trait (size, speed, vision, hands, IQ) to warrant top six?dhsux wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 11:46 am Seems the Blues want to at the very least hold onto him.

You need guys like him to make sure the AHL team is winning games despite an influx of rookie pros- someone who can teach them to win games and ensure theyre playing in meaningful games.
He's not an NHL asset at this point, unless he drastically outperforms his development curve to date.

Re: Alexandrov signed
He s a standard deviation away from a play level that is worthy to participate on a team with contending aspirations.
The Blues want to be that kind of team, so it's on him to level up. He has been so underwhelming at the NHL level thus far. But Tucker was for a time too. It's not impossible. he isn't fully foreclosed from his window, but this is the final window contract.

I agree with Army's Mom. We need good AHL players and veterans to support the influx of young talent coming through.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 11:22 am not worried about him in the nhl. agree with others he's a tweener

As talented as some of them are, the AHL is still one of the top leagues in the world and a big step up from juniors. A winning/competing culture in the AHL will foster the expectations when they get to the Blues.

You need experienced guys in the AHL too to help lead the way. A group of just all young guys is a bad idea.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 11:22 am not worried about him in the nhl. agree with others he's a tweener
