Any reason not to take a shot with Fabbri
If we could get him on the cheap?

Is he a better option than Texier or Joseph at this point someone would have to get waived and or he blocks a kid from playing this year. Id say pass

My initial reaction is that we don't need borderline wingers who are turning 30 years old this season.

Love the good ole days of Fabbri, but I'd rather give the ice time to our young guys. As a seat warmer I don't think he brings anything that Texier or Joseph can't do.
Re: Any reason not to take a shot with Fabbri
If you want to pay a guy to be hurt. No more soft players. Hard pass. Heck no.
Re: Any reason not to take a shot with Fabbri
He is still injury prone and this team has so many better younger options for the third and fourth lines.
Am I the only on who sees the name Fabbri and thinks we could have had David Pastrnak?

Is there a team that could not have had Pastrnak?
Fabbri, no. The Blues don't need him. Sad story, he had a ton of potential.
Re: Any reason not to take a shot with Fabbri
There were five that picked after Boston.

At that point in the draft the picks are all fairly similar. For me this was one where I did feel the organizations preference for Canadians, or what I perceive as a preference, hurt them in taking Fabbri over Pastrnak. I guess I never saw the potential so many others did. Fabbri always seemed fragile and small. Sort of like the anti-Kariya in my eyes.

Definitely not the only one who has thought about that draft in retrospect...dr0zombie wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 13:55 pmThere were five that picked after Boston. But yes... most of the NHL had a shot at picking Pastrnak.

I always felt that most people viewed Nick Schmaltz was the better of two very similar players. And that's whom the Blues were hoping to be available as well as maybe the brother dynamic could have somehow resulted in Jordan Schmaltz and Nick both bringing more and better results on the Blues. Once Chicago grabbed Nick with the pick ahead of the Blues, they went with the next best thing. They even look a little bit alike as well.
And Pasternak had only played in Czechia or Sweden up until that point. The scouting of Europe was not as advanced as these days and not having North American experience sometimes still holds a bit of a question.

Its time to see what we got, not relive the past. Snuggy has a spot, but Dvorsky and hopefully Carbonneau makes it and they'll need a spot.

Re: Any reason not to take a shot with Fabbri
The main reason to not take a shot on Fabbri would be we don’t need anymore forwards. We already have 14 projected NHLers. 15 if Dvorsky shows he’s ready in camp.
Other reasons:
He’s injury prone
He’s a LW and we already have a ton of those
If we did want another forward, there’s better options still out there. Like Viktor Oloffson for one.

Id rather take a flyer on Yegor Chinakhov cheaper and younger requested a trade
Trade Joseph and low prospect for Chinakhov

Re: Any reason not to take a shot with Fabbri
if he were on a team and we could trade Texier or Joseph and he were near minimum wage, then yes. Because we cannot get rid of cap space in the process, pass.
We just don't have room for wingers at all need to purge more than acquire.

If Columbus would take that sort of package, Chinakhov would be traded by now. The kid has asked for a trade but the Jackets aren’t going to just trade him to trade him. They only will if their price is met.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 18:05 pm Id rather take a flyer on Yegor Chinakhov cheaper and younger requested a trade

I have pretty much zero interest in Chinakhov.
