He's the brightest star we've got right now.
With the team in shambles, this is great news.
Hoping to see this kid by mid-August.
Maybe sooner.

Makes Winn expendable in a trade

I agree unless you can dump the boat anchor at third. For me Winn has always been a health concern. He’s playing but supposedly playing hurt.

I’d rather have the two of them up the middle

Especially since just about all of the scouting reports say he’s unlikely to stick at short stop. It would be crazy to trade Winn then realize JJ as the scouts said can’t stick at short then they need to find another shortstop

Winn ain’t going no where. Especially if he has a knee issue. And back. I’d still play JJ at third, would be another Scottie, just lefty bat. Think Brett.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 07:42 amEspecially since just about all of the scouting reports say he’s unlikely to stick at short stop. Infield- Donovan Winn Brett. CF-Scott-C crooks/Bernal.
Best infield and up the middle defense in baseball.
One simple move- JJ to third.

No doubt. Winn should get the necessary help with the knee to get it healthy for the 2026 season this off season.
+3 WAR guys don't grow on trees. When you produce one from the farm, especially while he's cost controlled, you shouldn't just trade them off, you instead try to produce more of them to strive to build a winning roster. Wetherholt projects to be another one.
Pair them together in the MI.
Donovan might produce a +3 WAR at 3B next year. Contreras could do the same at 1B. A Donovan-Winn-Wetherholt-Contreras IF alignment is potentially a really good one.

+1 I like that infield and add a good corner outfield bat and the line up could start looking pretty goodJDW wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 07:49 amNo doubt. Winn should get the necessary help with the knee to get it healthy for the 2026 season this off season.

Then find some starting pitching.... plus that .800 plus OF RH bat.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 08:11 am+1 I like that infield and add a good corner outfield bat and the line up could start looking pretty goodJDW wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 07:49 amNo doubt. I wouldn't trade Winn. You've got a defensive SS with some pop. You add players around that . Do what it takes to move Nado, and maybe even Gorman, but not Winn.

Very little pop and incapable of stealing bases. Need a slugger, preferably RH and an OFerRamFan08NY wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 08:22 amI wouldn't trade Winn. You've got a defensive SS with some pop. You add players around that . Do what it takes to move Nado, and maybe even Gorman, but not Winn.

Better be here no later than Sept 1 so he get his feet wet (ala M. Winn in 2024) and get to know his teammates, St. Louis, big league travel, stadiums, ect........
No reason whatsoever for this kid to stay at AAA all year and not get a call-up.
8 GP
4 HR
.379 .455 .966 1.420
When Bloom takes control (isn't that what Mo said, he'd step aside in Aug/Sept and hand the keys to Bloom?), I'd bet he brings JJW up soon after.
