Newk played through the 50's so if he was born in the 19th century he was pushing 60 at the end. But I checked anyway. Turns out he was born in 1926 and hit just 15 homers.

I partied ALOT with a 20 year old Rick! Good times for sure.

I saw him pitch the year of his blowup in the playoffs. I think it was against Atlanta. About the fifth inning he threw two of the wildest pitches I ever saw thrown in a game, Bull Durham wild or wilder. I wonder if that was a precursor to his meltdown later on. Think it was in August.
