Hoops breakdown.
Interesting article on the Tigers potential offense. I'm anxious to see 2 of the newcomers, Sebastian Mack (g, UCLA) and Jayden Stone (g, Detroit Mercy). I think Barrett may play a larger role than the author thinks. I was impressed with his ball handling and playmaking last year.

But whatever happened to Robinson? He looked as if he was going to be a consistent stud and then dropped off the cliff.edwin drood wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 11:33 am Interesting article on the Tigers potential offense. Robinson is the first player mentioned in the linked article, and fairly highly praised.icon wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 20:32 pmBut whatever happened to Robinson? Re: Hoops breakdown.
Robinson needs to be moved off the point and be a 2.
I believe he's potentially a much better scorer than a distributor or running the offense.

Agreed, he has a lot more scoring capability in him. I think TO can be a dynamic pass-first PG. Seems look a good combination to me.11WSChamps wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025 09:30 am Robinson needs to be moved off the point and be a 2.

Re: Hoops breakdown.
ANT is a combo guard and scorer first plus great defender who needs to stay in control more. TO us a really good defensive/distributor/ball handler and classic PG. So is the true freshman coming in who is really terrific in distributing and in transition. Mack and the Detroit guy are more experienced and we shall see how the rotation works out but Tigers potentially should have great guard play. will be interesting fall where the guys figure out who plays where and how much.

Re: Hoops breakdown.
Another season where Gates has assembled a lot of moving parts, the challenge as always will be to get the right ones in the right places and get the team to gel.
The potential is there to be a fun team to watch again. I’m most interested to see how we shoot from 3. Looking at the roster, there aren’t a lot, but there are some guys who could be good catch and shoot players and that’s critical on a Gates team. Hopefully it comes together. Looking forward to it!

What happened to Rowe who was a 5 star by several ratings but when now they say he is a 3? Tape shows a really good PG who handles and distributes the ball well, lightning quick in transition. as he is local who has seen his play and what's your evaluation? should be very hungry to make impression and get back to being a real prospect for next level.

Re: Hoops breakdown.
To me, he’s an intriguing piece. Big thing is, how will his size and athleticism translate at the highest level in college? If he can make that jump athletically, he is an exciting potential player. He’s really good. He’s a slightly smaller Ant Robinson IMO. Of course, he is the same size as AI out of HS. Just sayin. He does have a lot of depth to contend with for PT as a freshman. But he’s got a shot. I agree, he somehow went under the radar.hdhntr148 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 08:31 am What happened to Rowe who was a 5 star by several ratings but when now they say he is a 3? Re: Hoops breakdown.
His stock dropped a bit in the AAU circuit play, if I remember correctly. Went from a top prospect to down around the 100th best player coming out. But I haven't seen much about him lately.hdhntr148 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 08:31 am What happened to Rowe who was a 5 star by several ratings but when now they say he is a 3? Over at RockMNation, they just had the readers vote on who will be the top 8 in minutes next season. Mitchell, Robinson, Pierce, and Mack figure to be in the top 5. After that it gets a little less certain. The voters had those top 4, then Boateng, Crews, Barrett, Porter rounding out the top 8. But will they need Phillips to play the same kind of minutes that Gray did this past year down low? Or will Burns live up to the hype the staff was putting on him and see a lot of minutes as a stretch 5? If Barrett can't develop some offensive capability (like knock down some threes), he might see fewer minutes. And Boateng hasn't yet shown he has any consistent offense, either. And then there's Stone, who seems to fit the mold of Warrick from last year. Nobody figures Northweather or Randall to see significant minutes, but who knows? And Rowe could also surprise. Gates has shown a tendency in the past to not play some guys that look like they should get major minutes on paper.
