Doyle MLB ready?
I wonder if the cardinals drafted this kid with the intention of throwing him in the bullpen this year?
A few analysts on ESPN said this is the one kid who could be MLB ready immediately

Re: Doyle MLB ready?
I would hope so, already 21/22. At least AAA and up for 26, really wanted Holliday but they already have Winn/Wetherholt hopefully holding down the MI for 10+ years

So who will be better him or Hernandez? No one cares when they are “ready” we need highest upsidevegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 17:46 pm I wonder if the cardinals drafted this kid with the intention of throwing him in the bullpen this year?

I don't know if I love the pick, but I like this kid. Also he was born 27 miles from Chris Carpenter. Nothing wrong with some New England attitude on the mound.

In the cardinals case- I think it was more on who is cheaper than who has more upsideYouboughtit wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 17:50 pmSo who will be better him or Hernandez? Re: Doyle MLB ready?
Pirates thinking? They have no offense? None in MLB or in minors. Never have I seen a team completely ignore hitters. You think Pittsburgh took a signing problem? I doubt $ was a factorvegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 17:52 pmIn the cardinals case- I think it was more on who is cheaper than who has more upsideYouboughtit wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 17:50 pmSo who will be better him or Hernandez? How are they saving money? Every year, they spend the entire draft budget.vegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 17:52 pmIn the cardinals case- I think it was more on who is cheaper than who has more upsideYouboughtit wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 17:50 pmSo who will be better him or Hernandez? No.
Team isn’t going anywhere this season. You don’t rush the kid.
Maybe end of 2026.
Re: Doyle MLB ready?
most of them don't anymore. The draft is too late in the year. Teams tend to protect their top drafted pitchers. That's what the Cards usually do.hugeCardfan wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 17:47 pmI doubt the kid pitches professionally in '25.vegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 17:46 pm I wonder if the cardinals drafted this kid with the intention of throwing him in the bullpen this year?

....and, even if he does pitch this year, they'll be focusing on developing a 3d pitch at this stage.craviduce wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 18:06 pmmost of them don't anymore. Re: Doyle MLB ready?
Cardinal fans have been clamoring for a pitcher who 'misses bats '. They just got one in Doyle. 42.6% strikeout rate best in Division 1
Baseball America's scouting report describes the lefty well: "When hitters step into the box against Doyle, they know his fastball is coming but there’s not much they can do about it. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound lefthander and New Hampshire native has bounced around in college, first at Coastal Carolina in 2023, then at Ole Miss in 2024 and finally Tennessee in 2025. He surged up draft boards by being the most dominant arm in the country, with a 2.91 ERA over 16 regular-season starts and 89.2 innings. His 42.6% strikeout rate was the best mark in Division I."

Re: Doyle MLB ready?
Seems to be a 50/50 split on the scouting reports regarding Doyle’s delivery indicating that it’s very “solvable”; will improve his control; with improved control gets through the line up more than 1 time. Most seem to like his secondary pitches.
Re: Doyle MLB ready?
Afraid he might be MLB ready for the postgame buffet.
