Hofer has the potential to be the Blues’ starter. With a new contract heading into this season, now is the time for him to show that he is their future in net. When his contract is up, Binnington will be 33 years old and an unrestricted free agent (UFA). Hofer will still be young and under team control. He will also be experienced enough to make the shift to the starting role if the Blues give him more responsibility starting this season.

A more balanced tandem distro sure makes sense... really kick the tires on this guy.
That said, very happy about the extension. He surely earned it.

He reminds me of Bishop
Hoping he’s the future and takes Binny’s job soon

I'm hoping he gets 35ish starts. Gives him more of a chance to prove himself and stay game ready playing more consistently. And keeps Binner fresh for the playoffs if he's still holding down the #1 spot.MikoTython wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025 20:38 pm A more balanced tandem distro sure makes sense... really kick the tires on this guy.

Binny is my favorite Blue of all time.... Next to Pronger.
That said I think an in-season tandem would be great. Binny can get bunt out when he plays for long stretches in "meaningless" games. Give Hofer more games and keep Binny fresh for the playoffs because when the games matter, there is no better goalie in the NHL than Binnington and nobody can convince me otherwise. He is getting older though and at least right now, a future with Hofer does not look terrible at all.

Bishop was the best I’ve ever seen. Hofer is so good with the puck. He’s a Boss with it

Hofer is pretty good with the puck. Sometimes he gets feeling himself a little too much and makes some chancey plays. He will grown out of that tho. Definitely a underrated part of of offense is how the goalies move the pucktheograce wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 11:42 amBishop was the best I’ve ever seen. Hofer is so good with the puck. He’s confident. He hold on to it a little longer because of it and makes solid plays. Great velocity backhand/forehand. Uses leverage well. The Blues are lucky to have 2 great puck managers because they don’t have to adjust much depending on who is netYounghopp1991 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 11:57 amHofer is pretty good with the puck.
