So I guess we all know where the team was now

At the end of the season, some thought that we were one Buchnevich brain freeze away from a Stanley Cup. They assumed minimal changes were needed. Just let Dvorsky hit the refrigerator for one more summer, and we were locked and loaded.

Then the 2025 offseason happened, and Army showed us all just how "close" our team was. And truth be known, I would bet that Army tried to jettison several other big names, but couldn't get enough in return for them. It's embarrassing for Army to trade Buchnevich for a bag of practice pucks.

So is everybody on board now that we were not "close"? The team was missing key ingredients, and Army needed dynamite to fix it.

I dont even remember anyone sayin we were close to winning a Cup, so I call false premise alert.

Some thought we were stacked for a run next year.
Very few thought that we needed 2 new Centers via a dynamite enima.
No one thought that we needed to trade Bolduc away to get some missing piece.

Mussels, white wine, garlic, parsley and sun dried tomatoes on linguine.

Oh...some olive oil and butter!

Ok. I'll tell you the punch line... :)

Some thought that our roster was "set". Just sprinkle in Dvorsky, and get ready to hoist the Cup. Over the last couple of weeks, we all saw that that was very naive thinking.

Some think that we don't need to ever draft high to fill our roster. What we can't get in the draft, sage old Army will just find it in a trade--just like ROR. Then our Bolduc jerseys went to hell and goodwill in exchange for the 3rd best RHD on Montreal.

What do I want to accomplish? This is my masterclass lesson.

IF WE HAD A TOP 5 PICK in 2024, we would have had our RHD and Bolduc would still be a Blue.
IF WE HAD A TOP 5 PICK in 2025, we could have solved our 2C issue immediately, and we may not need to say goodbye to Snuggerud and Dvorsky in 2026.

TOP 5 picks impact a lot of things. Just FYI

You should roast the garlic (freshly peeled only) in olive oil...if you're adding wine make sure to reduce it by cooking it off until it's half as full...and use the pasta water.
