While it may be tough for Cardinals to chase down the Cubs, there is another team .. the Milwaukee Brewers to keep an eye on.
Here’s why the Brewers have a decent shot:
On Sunday they get 2-time All. Star starting pitcher returning.. Brandon Woodruff
He has been out since late 2023. They get an ace type pitcher back for the final 3 months. They also have rookie Misiorowski who had looked very good . Rumor are they are seekin another starter this month with Peralta possibly traded.
More than that though will be the offensive jolt when 2 OF return.
Blake Perkins fractured tibia in spring training and had been out all season and he is close to returning. Garret Mitchell is also returning after long absence.
I realize the Cubs are seeking another starter that could change their ball club but Brewers will be much improved with those returning starting caliber players . They trail the Cubs by 4 games .
Don’t give Cubs NL Central crown just yet
