Happy 4th

Post by George Zipp »

Here's to not trading a current roster player named Jake, Devo, Snuggs etc for Byrum. They can have Cole, Dags and a 3rd for sure.

Plans: 4th is a bit of an overrated holiday to me. I'm not a big fan of blowing things up, I don't like the heat, and I don't like crowds. Most importantly, like most dog owners, this holiday really sucks as the neighbors light M80s and cherry bombs until 130am (and I live in the burbs, not north city). Gonna really have to tend to the pooch as the sun sets.

Will stick to eating a solid meal at home. Already marinating filets and shrimp. Will grill it all. We recently discovered that in lieu of turning on the ovens in the house on a 94-degree day you can slow cook a baked potato on the grill and it works great. Will grill some asparagus and make a salad, and bazinga, dinner. For apps my wife makes hummus from scratch and have a nice hunk of cheese and some pita and carrots. I'm sure there will be a dessert made so I'll need a defibrillator by the time the dog starts freaking out. Oh, and one of my daughters is currently whipping up waffles from scratch while the other attempts to set the modern-day record for sleeping in. It's a good day.

Happy 4th everyone!

Happy 4th!

I have a deep appreciation for this Holiday. Always enjoyed getting together with family and blowing up hundreds of dollars. These [senior citizen] days we just watch the neighbors blow up their fortunes. It drives our cat nuts.

I live near Lake Allatoona in GA, they have a wonderful fireworks show, hundreds of boats crowd the coves and main channel to watch. We get out there on our boat every other year or so. The volume of boat traffic leaving after the show scares my wife, she's trying to talk me out of going this year. The show is beyond cool, well choreographed, and the reverbetations and echoes of the bursts off the cliffs around the lake is awesome.

Will be doing BBQ. Wife said the store didn't have pork steaks today (this is NOT St. Louis!) so it's chicken kebobs with our secret lemon-butter soy sauce.

Happy Fourth everyone!

I don't agree with a lot of the governing that goes on in the USA but I love this country and I feel blessed to be born here with all the simple freedoms and the sheer bounty we all have in our lives every single day.

Hope ya'll can find a way to beat the heat and enjoy the holiday!

Try living in Granite City, where these hoosiers shoot off commercial-grade fireworks for a month before and a month after the 4th.

Happy fourth everyone . Enjoyed the day off here in Texas.
People in the neighborhood fire off too many firecrackers around here.
I spent part of the evening listening to the different music on
The 4th of July programs . The best singers were the old singers.;
The Temptations, and The Beach Boys

Great to have a three day weekend hope everybody’s safe and enjoying the off-season so far
Agreed that it’s bad for the dogs

Which is “the Rose city”? Somni. I’m pretty sure you’re in the upper west, USA, but the only thing I think with Rose is the Rose Bowl, which would be Pasadena I guess California. I’m in central Texas, myself.
I never did like sitting off fireworks even as a child but I think a few of us here are senior citizens and it does get annoying and I worry when the grandkids shoot those stupid things off. I leave it to the professionals.

IMO, there's nothing more important than freedom and the 4th of July represents freedom. Happy freedom day!

Rose City = Portland, Oregon.
Called the City of Roses since 1888. 8)

When I was a teen, I LOVED the 4th. My grandparents had a lake house at Indian Hills in Cuba. We would drive out and stop at Apollo fireworks factory in Stanton (It exploded and burned to the ground sometime in the 90's) Me and my buddies would shoot off everything on the dock for a week around the 4th. I spent whole high school paychecks then. Now, I don't even like pulling off of 370 in Bridgeton to watch from there. Too much stupid, too many drunks. Basically its Amateur Hour. The last time I went anywhere on the 4th is when Sammy Hagar played Fair St. Louis on Art Hill in 2016. That may not have actually been on the 4th come to think of it. Hope y'all had a good and safe one.
