Gotta protect your players Oli
Either Cruz or Reynolds should be drilled tomorrow, whichever inning is convenient, preferably 2 out and 0 on base.

Spot on!
You can’t let a collection of stiffs push you around!

Yes, retaliate and put a runner on base in a game that was decided 1-0. That makes a lot of sense.
But tomorrow perhaps could be fair game. I just think it would have been stupid to intentionally put a player on base today.

His hands are very close to the strike zone, not sure if it is all the pitchers fault. He doesn't seem to try very hard to get out of the way or adjust his hands so they don't keep hitting him.
Not sure it is going to change things just hitting some guy.

I think he needs a little self-reflection on why he gets hit so much. He crowds the plate and leans over it. Many pitchers don't like that. Gibson used to say that he didn't pitch inside to control the inside corner -- but to control the outside corner.

You really want for Gray to risk getting tossed immediately if the ump thinks he deliberately plunked somebody? That would be dumb.hmoss859 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 22:25 pmMIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 22:22 pm His hands are very close to the strike zone, not sure if it is all the pitchers fault. +1 especially now that the umps know that Contreras wants retaliation. If he wanted retaliation he should have only said something in the privacy of the clubhouse with no one else aroundicon wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 22:30 pmYou really want for Gray to risk getting tossed immediately if the ump thinks he deliberately plunked somebody? Re: Willson is (upset) that Cards don’t retaliate
After being hit 14 times, he probably is upset his teammates don't seem to have his back. Many teams would've sent a message already. Look at what went down between LA & SD last week. Guys had their teammates backs.
But oli ball is different. Its a world where other teams don't worry about hitting our batters. Other teams don't think twice about showing our guys up on the field by screaming at them in full view of fans and TV cameras. They know oli won't retaliate. They know our pitchers don't have their teammates backs. Its an indication of a group of players instead of a tight knit team. That mentality starts with the manager.

Just for future reference, would be helpful for OP to post the actual comment or a link to it. I'd think it being so notably "well said" would be even more reason to share it.
