Kyrou for Byram. . .seriously?

Post by Emma bleeds blue »

I don't get the talk. Trade the Blues all star, leading goal scorer entering the prime of his career for an often injured defenseman who's looking for his third team in three years? Make it make sense.

Are folks stills grinding an ax that Kyrou didn't build a statue of Berube in his front yard when he left?

No that has to be Buffalo bloggers pushing that rumor. Byrum isn't close to value with Kyrou.

I have zero interest in Byram in general, so I definitely don't want to spend the biggest trade chip of the next 80+ hours while he still has no trade protection getting Byram if they are going to spend that chip.

Dobson yes but that ship has sailed and it's moot

Whew. . . Frank, Seattle, Jack - thank you! I always appreciate your level headed responses elsewhere on the board. And especially on this post! :D

I don't really think Kyrou was on the table for Dobson let alone Byram...not straight up anyway.

Kyrou WAS on the table for JJ Petelka - per Frank Seravelli.

I would love to see Anderson (CGY), but it might be Nemec. Anderson has one year left and Blues are currently closer than CGY.

Why would the Blues use any assets on a position currently filled? I don’t see the fit with Byram. I don’t see his style or physical stature as an option at RD. And he is one hit away from a long LTIR stay. Maybe if they hadn’t acquired Fowler, but not sure I see the dots that lead to Byram.

The deal was Peterka for Doan and Kesselring. They combined for 14 goals last year.

I want Kyrou gone for ANY reasonable return, because he regressed in this year's playoffs so ... monumentally, that I am not sure if another year alongside Holloway will cure him of playoff poison he put on display against the Jets.
I want to win Playoff series and Kyrou, for all of his regular season splendor, becomes an ice dancer with a great shot who wets himself if contact is looming in the post season.
You will always play golf early if your highest paid forwards crumble like that once "real" hockey begins its season. The three goals were lovely, but there is a hell of a lot more involved in winning a playoff series than getting open and firing off a few great shots. Our regular season leader was TENTH on the team in points in the series.
Our Second line was, possibly, worse than our Third line. Schenn and Neighbours actually did the other things that make for winning a hockey game in the playoffs. Kyrou never did.

If Seravelli's claims are true, and Buffalo opted for 14 goals from two players over Kyrou should tell you everything you need to know about how other GMs view the golden child.

Friedman apparently said it on the radio. I don't believe it would be 1 for 1. Sabres would probably have to add 9th overall pick and Jack Quinn or something else. Maybe Blues can offload Leddy too...
