Gorman….opened stance again
I guess the experiment with young Gorman of staying closed and not opening the wagon gate on most swings has ended. We’ll be back to some HR’s when he’s feeling it and a lot of whiffs in between….

That stance is puzzling especially when you consider how they attack him away and he is obsessed with pulling the ball?

What are you referring to? Can't find any articles or links talking about a stance change.

Protocols!
Speaking of that…where has our buddy Margie been this season?

Re: Gorman….opened stance again
Jim Thome had a wide open stance but stood closer to the plate so he could reach the outside strike.

Re: Gorman….opened stance again
Personally, I really like an open stance for him. It should allow him to stay on the ball longer and do better with balls away... and with his bat speed, he can hit it out while giving himself a little bit of a longer look.
With a closed stance, your hips can clear a little too fast and you come off the ball, leaving you really susceptible to low and away.

Cal Ripken Jr must have driven you crazy....

Have you watched the games?? You don’t need an article…..An Old Friend wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 11:42 amWhat are you referring to? Can't find any articles or links talking about a stance change.
He’s been closed most of the year……wasn’t hitting for power
Recently went back to open….you know with right foot/leg trending to Cards dugout at home…..and he’s been hitting for power again
But we’ve seen this movie before

player may have issues, but this tale the open stance is just impossible etc....don't think so, watching the same team even, Ivan Herrera seems to hit just fine with his open stance.

Re: Gorman….opened stance again
I’m not saying some can’t be quite successful….I’m saying and have been saying that Gorman steps in the bucket when he swings. They attempted to correct this by closing his stance and hopefully he’d keep his right foot in and stay on the ball. With the wagon gate half way open, most of the time falls offs to the first base side swinging. But that’s how he generated his power….but the league knows this and will carve him up just like they’ve done previouslyClubmaker2 wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 13:24 pm JW may have issues, but this tale the open stance is just impossible etc....don't think so, watching the same team even, Ivan Herrera seems to hit just fine with his open stance.

He's been really good in June... like .250/.360/.540 and a 150 wRC+Goldfan wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 13:03 pmHave you watched the games?? You don’t need an article…..An Old Friend wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 11:42 amWhat are you referring to? Can't find any articles or links talking about a stance change.

Why do you not like a move to a more open stance?
Re: Gorman….opened stance again
He’(poop) like that since he’s been up…..never can stay on the ball…pulling off. He’s had good stints, like now. But if he can’t consistently keep his batting stroke from pulling off to the 1b side he’s going to be back down at AAA with some team or retired. An Old Friend wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 13:36 pmHe's been really good in June... like .250/.360/.540 and a 150 wRC+Goldfan wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 13:03 pmHave you watched the games?? Why was he closed off starting the year up until recently? They were attempting to keep him from pulling off. But he lost his power, so back to old stance. There were times when he did stay on the ball and the results were usually good, but he couldn’t sustain.
Herrera is referenced above. He starts with a very exaggerated open stance but strides toward the plate and pitcher. Gorman stayed open but he also pulls off to 1b, not striding to plate or pitcher
