I remember he said he was "done" with Cardinal baseball. Does anyone believe that? He sounded like a guy who could still give another hour of diction and dialogue at any given time. Maybe it's time for Danny Mac or someone to have him on to give a good spewing about what he's seen so far.

If Fan Duel didn't want him back, it's odd they waited until February to communicate that. If an employer doesn't want someone, they usually make the decision to get rid of you immediately.

Is Sweeney his replacement? I haven't heard anyone else other than him and Thompson on the games. Doesn't Ankiel live in FL? And every time he was on the telecasts, he worked remotely from his home?

Then I wonder why Fan Duel waited so long to tell him that? Employers usually don't wait around to get rid of someone.

Anyway, I like Sweeney the few times I watch the games. I remember when he was part of FS1's coverage. And liked him then.

As far as the timing, it’s media, so kind of a unique business. I think Edmonds was on record saying he didn’t want to call Spring Training. Real games don’t start until end of March, so that is plenty of notice.

I guess so as long as the replacement has been in the booth before. If I was an analyst, I would appreciate more notice if I'm suddenly going to travel a lot more than I expected. I wonder if Fan Duel renegotiated Sweeney's contract? Does Thompson and Sweeney split the booth 50 - 50?
