POZO v Gorman/Noot
man on 2nd, just about ANY hit to OF scores him.
Gorman/Noot are up there taking their typical Big League Chew rips…..both pop up to 3b
POZO WITH 2 OUTS….reaches out and pokes a dunker to RF…..wins the game
This is a great example of situational awareness absent on this team for years…..if they did more of this instead of all the usual suspects attempting to hit the ball through the arch MANY more runs would cross the plate

They are what they are Joey Gallo light
Re: POZO v Gorman/Noot
Bases loaded zero outs in the 10th. Winn, Burleson, WC could be added to yourGoldfan wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025 18:15 pm man on 2nd, just about ANY hit to OF scores him.

Re: POZO v Gorman/Noot
Noots not as bad as Gorman, but the side by side with an actual fella who can control his bat and knows exactly what he need to do is overwhelming.
Looks like Gorman’s stance has opened back up……he’s a softball league one trick pony. Time to trade to a “we can fix him” team and get what you can get
Re: POZO v Gorman/Noot
Exactly…..learn to play the game…..ANY normal fly ball scores a run……a ML hitter can’t hit a fly to the OF??? Seems almost unbelievable….renostl wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025 18:53 pmBases loaded zero outs in the 10th. We're on the same page and it isn't entirely about the results sinceGoldfan wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025 18:57 pmExactly…..learn to play the game…..ANY normal fly ball scores a run……a ML hitter can’t hit a fly to the OF??? what Pozo did isn't an automatic, nor are fly balls to the OF. The approach though, that measures the
EV of being >100 MPH as an accomplishment all while being ground ball outs.
IMO, you make yourself easier to pitch to.

The Nolan Gorman “let’s see what he can do” experiment is over.

Goldfan, You nailed it. You're a good baseball man. And although I'm thrilled we ended up winning this game, it doesn't mean we should ignore the fact that we were terrible at situational hitting. Very fortunate to win the game. Against the very best teams, it's probably an L.

Didn’t Burleson scorch one at a fielder, or am I misremembering?renostl wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025 18:53 pmBases loaded zero outs in the 10th. Winn, Burleson, WC could be added to yourGoldfan wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025 18:15 pm man on 2nd, just about ANY hit to OF scores him.

Re: POZO v Gorman/Noot
I’d have the boys take “hit the fly to OF” in BP……..bat meet ball……don’t need to swing to hit it to E. How is it that portly catchers, Yadi POZO, have an understanding and ability to reach out and dink a ball to right side…..when that’s all that is required for the W? The entire Cards ‘80’s lineup, Rose, Carew, Gwynn….more every player NOT produced the last 15yrs or so in ML could make contact with the ball and somehow get it the OF. Barry Bonds used to choke up on the bat. POZO everyday and twice on Sunday if a man on 3rd needs to come home. I’m sure Gorman/Noot look really impressive in the cage hooked up to all the measureable sensors

Re: POZO v Gorman/Noot
Kind of. I think the bigger problem is the attempt to hit a ball to the moon every single at bat. Like you say, in that situation you don't have to hit a homer just get the winning run in. This team could certainly stand to slap some more "dunkers" to the opposite field.Goldfan wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025 18:15 pm man on 2nd, just about ANY hit to OF scores him.

Re: POZO v Gorman/Noot
The runner was on 2nd base when Gorman and Noot came up, so a flyball can only advance the runner if it is deep enough. Pop-ups didn't help. Pozo'(poop) was with Walker on 2nd, not from 3rd. So you're reasoning is like the runner was on 3rd.
Re: POZO v Gorman/Noot
My original post details Walker on 2nd and only needing a hit. Another poster brought up bases loaded and there are comments about scoring on a fly ball. In both cases situational awareness with runners in scoring position should be the Primary thought when in the batters boxsportskill wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 17:06 pm The runner was on 2nd base when Gorman and Noot came up, so a flyball can only advance the runner if it is deep enough.
