Donovan, Herrera and Burleson could start for any MLB team, right now
All three are outstanding MLB hitters. The Cardinals need about four more hitters like them.

I am high on ALL three but none are “outstanding”
as of yet:
Donovan is a very good hitter and getting better.
Herrera is finally getting his look and is emerging.
Burleson is a very solid bat especially vs. RH and COULD be in the midst of a breakout year.
Again....I’m high on all three but none are outstanding YET.

Herrera probably has the highest ceiling. Has the talent to be a legitimate and feared MOTB
Donny while not exactly “scary” is solid. Hes that guy that just finds a way to get on base and routinely annoy pitchers. Hes proving to be an extremely tough out.
Burleson I like. And may have played himself back into the starting 3 in the OF especially with Noot just flat out sucking. I’m not exactly high on him but he definitely won’t embarrass himself. Nothing special in the field or in the basepath so I wish he had a bit more power.

I believe this is the one. Thanks for ruining a good thing, Marshall.

Is LA benching will smith or ohtani for Herrera. Your thoughts?

Perfect time to trade the one of those who is bad at every position except DH and 1B, which are both occupied for the foreseeable future by better hitters than him.

Did you mean this topic? (Burly better than Ohtani?)

There are things I really like about Burly but things that make it difficult to get too excited about his overall value. He doesn't appear to be a power hitter, and his speed reduces his effectiveness stretching out doubles and scoring runs. Other than 1st, he doesn't play very good defense. But he usually takes good at bats and is a very fine overall hitter. As a split guy he could be very effective as platoon DH or 1B option or a LH pinch hitter that will generally give you a good at bat.
He seems to be a guy that needs to play a lot to be his best and that might be a problem due to his lack of a position and average power. I think he could be a very good bat for any team but on a really deep team would be not get regular playing time he has earned here. He is certainly proving he belongs on a major league roster.
Donovon is a very good and solid overall player who could start at 2nd base for almost anybody due to his tough at bats and defense. He would be limited at other positions like OF or 3B on a deeper team due to the lack of power.
Herrera is a hitter. Just need to figure out how to best deploy him with all the congestion at DH and 1B. His future does not seem to be at catcher.

Is Burleson hitting 305, absolutely. Congrats
But he’s gonna end up scoring 50 runs, hitting 11 HR and 45 RBI or whatever.
And like 30 Walks… You can’t have that at corner OF/DH

I am sorry but Contreras is not a better hitter than Burly at this point. Contreras is nothing special as some on this site like to make him out to be. Burleson has lacked the playing time to get better, Contreras is someone that needs approached about being a bench player or agreeing to be moved.
