Blackhawks Open to Trading #3 Pick
The Chicago Blackhawks are open to trading the third overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli reports.
Chicago is willing to be aggressive to use the pick to pursue more immediate help if the right deal presents itself, Seravalli adds.

I love this time of year. Half this stuff is nonsense and won’t pan out but man alive is it fun to speculate. Interesting to think this would give Buffalo 2 picks in the top 10.

So you aren't going to bite at my offer of Faulk and the 19? Shoot, I really thought that was going to work!!

Maybe it’s just me but I get the feeling this offseason is going to be crazy exciting - more exciting than the last several at least. Some solid free agents out there, and multiple teams looking to take that next step who will be buying suddenly (ANH has already started shopping). The next couple of months should be fun.
Re: Blackhawks Open to Trading #3 Pick
I read a while back that since the lockout (I think that's the time period) there has been a top five draft pick traded one time, and that was in a slight trade back.
It seems these "rumors" or "reports" that teams are "open to trading" #x pick in the top five are incredibly unlikely to be true. I'm sure any team is willing to move a top 5 pick in the right offer but with so few teams selling I don't think that "right offer" is going to come along.

Dags, Cole and a 3rd. Fair offer but they won't want to trade in the division. Shame. Get er done Leery.

From a BH blog - I would be good with this.
Blackhawks Receive:
JJ Peterka
No. 9 overall pick in 2025 NHL Draft
Sabres Receive:
Lukas Reichel
Nos. 3 & 25 overall picks in 2025 NHL Draft
Toronto’s 2nd round pick in 2026

The sharks traded the 3rd overall as part of the EK65 trade. At the time they didn’t know it was going to be 3rd overall but that’s what it ended up beingrbirules wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 08:07 am I read a while back that since the lockout (I think that's the time period) there has been a top five draft pick traded one time, and that was in a slight trade back.

yeah, they traded an unprotected first round pick in a draft that was 20-21 months away (i.e. not even the next draft), and as you said the pick ended up being 3rd overall.so_crates wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 10:22 amThe sharks traded the 3rd overall as part of the EK65 trade. A team trading a pick they own, and know is a top 5 pick, in an upcoming draft is incredibly rare.
