Well it would be a waste of prospects to trade for him then he would certainly walk in free agency. He’s a yankee next season

My late brother lived in Houston and was a big Astros fan. We went to lots of games together at MMP. Tucker has one of the sweetest LH swings I’ve seen since Jim Edmonds. I couldn’t believe they let him go.Goldfan wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025 20:55 pm Kyle Tucker is the only player in the live-ball era (since 1920) to record at least 60 hits, 40 walks, 25 extra-base hits and 15 steals in under 60 games with a single team.

100% on the mark. No way the Cardinals would have retained him at the end of the year. So why give away prospects for a one year rental.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025 21:02 pm Well it would be a waste of prospects to trade for him then he would certainly walk in free agency. So how does this team go from paying Goldy and NA…..but then wouldn’t be able to afford ONE elite contract? Miles falls off, no youth will be making big money……ramfandan wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025 21:08 pm100% on the mark. No way the Cardinals would have retained him at the end of the year. I don't think it's a matter of not "being able" to afford him, it's more so they 'wouldn't ' be willing to afford him.Goldfan wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025 22:41 pmSo how does this team go from paying Goldy and NA…..but then wouldn’t be able to afford ONE elite contract? Re: Elite All-star OF
lol Tucker is going to get far far more than either of them there is going to be a bidding war the Yankees lost out on signing Soto they will break the bank for Tucker there will be a bidding war. Well you can debate if the cardinals can afford him but it’s pointless to debate if they will go for him and sign him because there is no debate. The cardinals aren’t going to even enter the conversation so it would have been very very dumb to trade JJ and Matthew’s and others for him and then watch him walkGoldfan wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025 22:41 pmSo how does this team go from paying Goldy and NA…..but then wouldn’t be able to afford ONE elite contract? Okay and what would have been the Cardinals equivilant of a power infield bat, a 2024 first round draft pick super-prospect, and a young controllable starting pitcher?

I say Dodgers Ozzie.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025 21:02 pm Well it would be a waste of prospects to trade for him then he would certainly walk in free agency. He’s a yankee next season
Gone from 2025 payroll:
-Conforto/$17M
-Yates/$13M
-Hernandez/Rojas/$11.5M
-Kopech/$5.2M
That's $46.7M and we know they'll re-invest 100% of it so they could use that to blow away everyone, even the Yankees.
Re: Elite All-star OF
It’s going to be a bidding war between at least those two teams. And if the Cubs get crazy, too, then I think it’s possible that Tucker could end up with north of $500 million. It will be interesting though because you’re a year away from the CBA and we really don’t know what will come out of that.rockondlouie wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 08:54 amI say Dodgers Ozzie.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025 21:02 pm Well it would be a waste of prospects to trade for him then he would certainly walk in free agency. If Rickett's (Scrubs) was to (finally) loosen the purse strings, then they could be in the game w/the Dodgers & Yankees (and ???) too.

That owner always spends right up to the threshold…occasionally exceeds it….
But there is a strict policy of no long term deals….and they have an open door policy..
Here is the offer…..and there is the door..

As it is, was, and always will be.
But many around here will call you spoiled and tell you to shut up and take what you're given.

I’m sure you are right about the owner and Tucker’s contract. I just think the kid has a great pure LH swing. I never saw Musial, but…..45s wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025 10:55 amI never doubted they would move him….BrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025 21:03 pmMy late brother lived in Houston and was a big Astros fan.
