Jose Barrero
Jose Barrero had been playing and hitting well at Memphis when called up and had one good game but has since had very limited chances. With the very unfortunate wrist injury to Jordan Walker might this be a good time to give Jose Barrero some steady playing time. He seems versatile and potentially a player whose skill set could be invaluable.
Re: Jose Barrero
He hasnt looked great offensively and never did anything in previous years in mlb. Hes versatile in the field but pretty bad defensively at each position.ithacards67 wrote: ↑31 May 2025 12:48 pm Jose Barrero had been playing and hitting well at Memphis when called up and had one good game but has since had very limited chances. Good summation. He looks like an athlete, but he isn't very good.Wattage wrote: ↑31 May 2025 13:56 pmHe hasnt looked great offensively and never did anything in previous years in mlb. Look for Burleson to play more RF and Gorman to get more at bats as a result.

Re: Jose Barrero
That’s why he went from being a top prospect to being picked up by the cardinals for nothing. He hasn’t been able to harness all of the talent into actual production.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑31 May 2025 15:45 pmGood summation. If not now then why is he in the system?ithacards67 wrote: ↑31 May 2025 12:48 pm Jose Barrero had been playing and hitting well at Memphis when called up and had one good game but has since had very limited chances. Re: Jose Barrero
I’m afraid JB is just another AAAA guy that will show flashes of MLB talent and then revert to his career mean. I hope Bloom doesn’t keep too many of these guys in the system. Ideally, IL stints like JW’s create opportunity for true prospects. Sadly, Mo won’t give Koperniak a shot.Bad14 wrote: ↑31 May 2025 19:54 pmIf not now then why is he in the system?ithacards67 wrote: ↑31 May 2025 12:48 pm Jose Barrero had been playing and hitting well at Memphis when called up and had one good game but has since had very limited chances. Koperniak is hitting .205 with a .592 ops in MemphisBrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑01 Jun 2025 06:28 amI’m afraid JB is just another AAAA guy that will show flashes of MLB talent and then revert to his career mean. Yeah, I know. I just want us to filter all these AAAA guys through the system. He looks like another one. What we really need is some more bonafide prospects.Wattage wrote: ↑01 Jun 2025 07:08 amKoperniak is hitting .205 with a .592 ops in MemphisBrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑01 Jun 2025 06:28 amI’m afraid JB is just another AAAA guy that will show flashes of MLB talent and then revert to his career mean. Re: Jose Barrero
Is Saggesse incapable of playing the OF? I don't think they should move Donovan off 2B. He's just too good there. But we need someone to take his place as a super utility player.
Re: Jose Barrero
Just checked. Not tearing it up but not awful stats.

Yes, this was a big reason why Siani made the mlb roster out of ST.
Not because Marmol liked Siani better, but because, at the time, there was little playing time left. And a stellar def replacement and PR made more sense…
