maton

If the cards get anything worthwhile from moving diminishing Helsey, should they consider making Maton closer? he seems to be steady

Just recently he went a while without pitching. I thought that odd. Arm issue?

I’d try Grafecco. Young. Whoever must be a K pitcher with no walks. Have MM control and Libbyctype stuff.

Graceffo has the the type of stuff that could be the heir apparent to to Helsley, who hasn't been exactly lights out. If Helsley is traded bfore the deadline, what kind of return would the Cards be able to get?

Depends on the team in my estimation. A team that’s good doest need to sacrifice in a trade as they can win without him. A team that in the post season, most could use a closer. Those types is where the fruit lies.

Id think the plan would be to make leahy closer because besides being better than maton, hed be the prospective future closer. Maton is on a 1 year deal.

Maton started the season great:

First 12 appearances:
11 1/3 Ip
0.00 ERA

Then had one horrible outing vs Atl (4 ER) and another three outings later vs the Mets (2 ER)

But he's back on track again, last 7 appearances:
7 IP
0.00 ERA

With Leahy struggling (Last 7 G: 4.00 ERA--13 Hits) Maton has become Oli's go to setup man for Helsley.

Great signing at $2M, hope they keep him around in 2026.
