Re: Masyn Winn
Personally, I don't have a problem with that approach as the #2 hitter. Hit a single, get on base, keep the line moving for the middle of the order. He's probably also getting pitched to more carefully with runners on.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑29 May 2025 08:59 am Mar/April: .260/.345/.425/.770 3 2B 3 HR 7 RBI 15 runs in 21 games

It’s not that surprising that an OFer hasn’t yet committed an error. They don’t make many over the course of a season. Not that surprising is true. But we are talking about Walker. And his strides. Having zero errors is about as becoming as it gets.woofy25 wrote: ↑29 May 2025 09:26 amIt’s not that surprising that an OFer hasn’t yet committed an error. The over all team has 22 errors. Take away Mik, Paige’s, and Nado, all with three each, it’s down to 13 errors as a team.
Re: Masyn Winn
Why would you take those away? If N.A. only commits 9 errors, that is excellent. If mikolas truly has three errors that’s pretty bad.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑29 May 2025 09:29 amNot that surprising is true. But we are talking about Walker. And his strides. Walker being errorless is all well and good but that’s not the best way to judge an OFer. He has improved a ton. Many, as usual, are far too impatient and make absolute claims about a player far too often

Took them away as outliers and to show the remainder of team has very few errors. Trying to draw correlation with great defense and wins.woofy25 wrote: ↑29 May 2025 09:33 amWhy would you take those away? If N.A. only commits 9 errors, that is excellent. You are correct. To remove them does nothing to the facts.

Re: Masyn Winn
Winn is currently on pace for 5.1 WAR. That includes the slow start, so if he doesn't get a big injury, given his resurgence, he may well get into the 6-7 WAR range. The best shortstops in the game will be in the 8-10 WAR range. I would say Winn is doing great for a young player and I will take that D and 6 WAR for his cheap price every season I can. If Winn plays at his current level the rest of the season he may well reach 7+ WAR. That is pretty darn good.... Of course he could throw that back out and miss 3 weeks too....

Re: Masyn Winn
Winn's strong second season proving that 2024 wasn't a fluke is one of the many positives thus far.
I loved Atlanta's model of locking up home-grown youth, but Albies and Harris II are providing rebuttals to that strategy as of late. If Winn finishes out the season in that 4-5 WAR range, we're going to get an interesting and quick look into Bloom's thinking. Does he offer Winn an extension that buys out his ARB and first couple years of free agency or hold tight? Winn seems to be the poster child for the front office's revised model.
