Army/ASOGG - What to expect this offseason
Army/ASOGG - What to expect this offseason:
Lower your offseason expectations, folks. Don't expect any sexy, significant, glorious acquisitions in the offseason. That is exactly what Army told you!
Never forget!! We won those late meaningless regular season games so that THERE WOULD BE NO EXCITEMENT IN THE OFFSEASON. NONE. NADA.
I've never seen anything like it. The boss tells the workers to expect a 1% pay hike, and the troops wake up each day thereafter thinking that they will be getting 20%.
Don't kill the messenger/sock puppet.

So, after spending an entire holiday weekend chained to this forum, you decided to carry on today with more of the same dumb [shirt]? And you’re confused enough to call yourself a sock puppet to boot?

Looking forward to tacos tonight.
Of course that means a margarita too.

Re: Army/ASOGG - What to expect this offseason
The most exciting and helpful events to occur this offseason is that we all get to watch the Blues climb out from out from under some of Army's earlier contract blunder overpays. Some, not all. It's beautiful addition through ugly subtraction. Fans in other cities are talking about draft picks and who will get added to the pipeline. Here, we can't wait to see Krug and Texier and others come off the books.
This is all because the Blues decided to hit everything moving in a golf cart in the last month of the regular season.

There is no NHL universe where winning games and getting into the playoffs as a result is a BAD thing. This is not a video game, NHL players, coaches, management, team and arena employees, area bar and restaurant employees, parking lot attendants, police, merchandising vendor stakeholders, and oh yeah, fans, are all real people with a vested interest in success of the team including playoff games.

There are 4 teams remaining in the playoffs. Each of those teams has at least 1 TOP5 pick that they selected.DawgDad wrote: ↑27 May 2025 12:45 pm There is no NHL universe where winning games and getting into the playoffs as a result is a BAD thing. The 2 teams leading in the finals each have 2 TOP5 picks that they selected.
The last time the Blues won the CUP, they had 1 TOP5 pick (Pietrangelo) on the roster that they selected.
The MVP of the playoffs in the last 25 years is very often a TOP5 pick of the Cup winner.
Can the Blues or anyone win a CUP without a TOP5 player? Sure, just don't ever bet on it if you care about odds.
Getting into the playoffs is not a BAD thing. However, playing against a team with TOP5 talent is a very bad thing.

Honestly, I kind of hope this is the case. Marner notwithstanding, I don't want them wading into the 28/29 year old free agency pool where they need to commit big dollars or years. The Blues set out on a path to shed older players & contracts, and draft and develop guys. So far, the plan is working and they've made incremental progress each year since dumping ROR and Tarasenko. They should stick with it until they're serious contenders.
Re: Army/ASOGG - What to expect this offseason
dumb thread. People say the same thing every offseason. Sometimes it's true, most times it's not. I recall a fairly dull offseason last year until it wasn't...

I couldn't agree more. I wish that the Blues would let the rookies carry us as far as they can.Emma bleeds blue wrote: ↑27 May 2025 12:53 pm Honestly, I kind of hope this is the case. Did you notice how Army said that we were getting to 5% better?
- He DID NOT say
Dvorsky is going to come in and BOOM BANG BOOM.
- He DID say.
If we add another Folwer, that gets us .5%. And adding another Faksa gets another .5%, and BINGO there is +1%
So there will be NEW OLD veterans coming in on long-term contracts.
Playing rookies means winning a few less games, and that is not tolerable in the Blues organization.
Re: Army/ASOGG - What to expect this offseason
What DA says or doesn’t say about Dvorsky has no bearing on what Dvorsky does or how he plays - why is that such a hang up for you?

How many people run this moniker? Shouldn’t you all at least get on the same page? I mean you don’t even make sense if we are to believe it is just one of you. The same guy constantly telling us about ALL the bad contracts is the same poster that says Army blew it by NOT getting anything for Tarasenko and O’Reilly and should have extended them since they were superstars.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑27 May 2025 12:35 pm The most exciting and helpful events to occur this offseason is that we all get to watch the Blues climb out from out from under some of Army's earlier contract blunder overpays. I mean you could get whiplash trying to follow The GrassMan’s route to success.

ASOGG is run by my 10 fingers. So go to sleep tonight knowing that it is run by 10.2forDiving wrote: ↑27 May 2025 14:03 pmHow many people run this moniker? All 10 know that the path to success is ultimately simple. Army needs to run our team like every other team runs theirs. The fans of our city should enjoy the same excitement as every other team.
Recipe:
Follow the same path that all 4 teams currently in the Stanley Cup Playoffs followed to get their TOP5 pick. Simple.

I think chicken taco's would be best tonight.
