We become a power house by 2027.
Good morning.
We went this off season to get rid of contracts. We failed. Just Goldie. Now Matz and Mik will bring nice prospects. Between Mik Matz and Helsley, with blooms crew, should get one missing piece.
We went into this season to assess the young. So far that is working great. If we cut today, only 1-2 players wouldn’t make it. A bat may be emerging in Herrera.
This off season. Add a stud bat or league Ace. Costs us in a trade or free agency. We have the money.
Next season, 2026, we will compete. Then off season, add that last piece, and become a power.
This takes time.

This, is indeed what the plan should be. They, of course, are making it harder on themselves by deviating from the runway plan. Only took a month and a winning streak. Shocker.

It’s time consuming. The assessment includes player performance, duration, endurance, attitude, etc.
Winning or losing is a side affect. A by product. Nothing says the redo can’t happen quicker, like the Herrera bat, but that’s just part of plan. But the plan stays the course.
If Herrera is indeed a stud bat, that leaves two additions- Ace and stud LF.
If we luck out we could be a household name again.

Mornin Doggie... I think most additions will come via trade. We may have an extra C for example, depending on how things sort in the minors. Same with middle infield. They will spend money signing international FAs, building the farm, etc... I seriously doubt they sign a big time FA for $20M per. You will see more like the Maton deal. Shorter term and manageable contracts. I like watching the kids play. Winn and VSII have been great ... Some will be busts, c'est la vie. The important thing is know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em. Hopefully Bloom et al. will be better at that than MO was.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑24 May 2025 08:32 am Good morning.

What I really dig is Bloom has very little plater affiliation. This means no dog in the emotional fight. As far as he’s concerned, these players, except maybe Libby, are Be Be’s kids.bccardsfan wrote: ↑24 May 2025 10:25 amMornin Doggie... I think most additions will come via trade. Yeah, you gotta give to get. We are overstocked in a couple of positions and short at others. Something will give. I suspect NG and JW... one will probably be dealt (if a good deal presents). Cannot get emotionally attached and must look at the problem as a whole. You have to get lucky too. We have all seen the wrong player being dealt. Late bloomers, etc.... LIbby has really developed so that trade is looking ok over the long haul. Glad I am not the GM!sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑24 May 2025 10:30 amWhat I really dig is Bloom has very little plater affiliation. This means no dog in the emotional fight. Yes. We have a shot with some luck to really become relevant.bccardsfan wrote: ↑24 May 2025 10:34 amYeah, you gotta give to get. We are overstocked in a couple of positions and short at others. Re: We become a power house by 2027.
Make the playoffs and win some series. They can do that this year with the SP and BP. Mo's draft choices especially in the late rounds and Herrera has solidified the starting lineup for a couple years.
SP has Matz and McGreevy are ready in case of injury.
Most teams have plans and the few that work don't always work to plan.
No need to sell at deadline to get position player prospects.

+1. I'm happy they have a future in 2026 and 2027. But the present is really good and they definitely can make a run. Go Cardinals 2025!thetank2 wrote: ↑24 May 2025 11:34 am Make the playoffs and win some series. They can do that this year with the SP and BP. I think BDW wants to see what Chaim Bloom can do with a $125M MLB payroll and a fully functional minor league system.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑24 May 2025 08:32 am Good morning.
