Blues/Panthers
Up for discussion. Who wins a 7 game Cup series------'19 Blues vs '25 Panthers?
I hate to say it but the Panthers are just too deep and too tough JMHO.
Interested in the replies.

Re: Blues/Panthers
The '19 Blues were great at forechecking and cycling the puck for consecutive shifts. The Panthers' dmen are excellent at pinching in order to sustain offensive zone time. Who would win that battle for offensive zone time ... it would be fun to see.

Re: Blues/Panthers
This is Florida's third deep run in a row....they're destroying teams instead of squeaking out one goal victories.
Not much of a comparison imo.

Re: Blues/Panthers
Florida is the poster child of staffing a roster with draft picks, including TOP5.
St Louis is the poster child for staffing like Ted Drewes, no TOP5s. Whose available in July to play in October?
Florida is a near-dynasty.
St Louis ROR jerseys are on sale at Goodwill.

Florida. It’s basically the same model of success but this Florida team has more dangerous offensive weapons than the Blues did IMO.
Re: Blues/Panthers
Smellie just can't get away from its DEROGATORY comments! What a loser and definitely not a Blues fan.

I wish that BluesTalk has 1/2 as many psychologists, and a few more TOP5 hockey men.

Anybody know who we are adding to the roster next year?
Has Army surveyed the league trash cans yet? Grandpa always said that you can get some really good stuff there.
Is there a Marner doll?

Right? At this point it is just idiocy to provoke [ which I guess I am guilty of falling for].BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑23 May 2025 10:53 amHave you ever been diagnosed?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑23 May 2025 10:16 am Florida is the poster child of staffing a roster with draft picks, including TOP5.

But because everyone knows this let's just recap:
Florida has not had a first rounder since 2021. Since 2015 the only two roster players of note they drafter are Lundell and Mackie Samoskevich. Since 2015, these have been their first rounders - Lawson Crouse (Utah), Henrik Borgstrom ( SEL), Owen Tippett ( Philly), Grigori Denisenko, Cole Schwindt, Lunderll and Samoskevich ( their last number on which was in 2021.
Yes they drafted Barkov and Ekblad but everyone else of their core Tkachuk,Bennett Reinhart, Forsling, Verhaeghe, Bob, Jones , Mikkola, Loustarninen, etc. all acquired elsewhere.
The exact poster child of staffing a roster with other people's draft picks.

Barkov - 2013 - #2
Ekblad - 2014 - #1
That is more than 10 years of watching superstars, and now they are near dynasty.
Meanwhile, in St Louis, our star players from 2019 have been gone from the team for 4 years.
That is the KEY DIFFERENCE between drafting superstars in the NHL draft versus picking up the best league leftovers that can be found in July. One sets you up for 15 years. The other sets you up for Buchnevich, Texier, Joseph, and Leddy.
Re: Blues/Panthers
Schenn, Parayko, Binnington, and Sundqvist beg to differ with you. That's 2C, 1RD, 1G, and 3C. Oh, and Steen is still with the team, diligently preparing to be your next target.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑23 May 2025 11:42 amFlorida selected their high-impact TOP5 players long agoIsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑23 May 2025 11:11 amRight? He picked up 2 players taken high in the NHL draft from Edmonton via a ONE-TIME-HEIST that can never be repeated.DawgDad wrote: ↑23 May 2025 11:10 amThe best indicator of the future is the past. He also picked up Fowler and Faksa who are great players, and signed them to 1-year deals due to age and risk. Both were meant to be stop-gaps, but their play is outshining all of the long-time future players. That's very sad commentary in reality.
Army also resigned Buchnevich for 7 more years. Will we get to see 7 more playoff collapses culminating off his stick?
Army added injury-ridden Jiricek to the prospect pipleine, and--surprise--his most prominent feature is injury.
2024 was a bad year for Army IMO. It revealed everything that is wrong with Army. His only good maneuver was a one-time theft, never to be repeated.

Re: Blues/Panthers
Florida (the state) is owning the 2020s.
The Blues were great in 2019 but The Panthers are on the level of a dynasty at the moment. They remind me a lot of the Blackhawks and Kings teams in the 2010s.
