Yep...for close to the same amount of money
Give me 4 of our best 2 over these two. Oh, and Benn and Schenn are both much better Captains too.
Please, for the usual two goofballs on this forum, don't twist the words or the point of comparison this isn't just one versus another one...

Just the fact that you have to say 4 of our best to their 2 says it all. IDC what they say in the media. I'm taking McDavid all day long over anyone. or 2, or 4

Don't you know? There's an unwritten rule on BluesTalk that posters don't call out other posters on this forum before they have even spoken. We're a team, buddy. All for 1. 1 for all.
Seriously...
How can I "give you 4 of our best 2"? Is that a quote from Yogi Berra? I love free and unfettered expression. Yogi was easier to understand than every player/broadcaster since. So I applaud the exaggerated talk.
Now in regards to your point of comparison. I'm not in favor of public shaming like this. I'm all for it behind the scenes. That being said, when the Blues talk about "bad culture in the locker room", I think that we can safely say that there were some idiots among our troops. I seem to recall Berube being talked about... Further, whatever bad apples existed to create that bad culture ARE STILL AROUND. They didn't leave with Saad. Our bad apples may have piped down, but they are not gone. I credit them for improving. Top5 picks can be bad apples too. That's why I'm hoping for the next Ovechkin, not the next McDavid.

Re: Yep...for close to the same amount of money
Heard a stat that no player over $10M AAV has won the Cup. I guess the two right at $10M are Jack Eichel and Barkov.
Not sure it means anything. Just interesting.

Re: Yep...for close to the same amount of money
Assuming that is true, my guess is it means when you tie up huge amounts of money in 2 or 3 players, you have little to spend in other key areas. It would be great to have a roster full of superstars. But with a salary cap it's impossible since they all want to get paid. And you need other skill sets up and down your lineup to win at the toughest time of the year - playoffs. It's certainly possible Edmonton wins it all this year with their high-priced players, but I think overall it's extremely difficult to do.
Re: Yep...for close to the same amount of money
Thinking.......
Up to this point. Most the players who are over ten million. Have when young and elite.
They are also usually the captain of their teams. I'd guess this is more of the common denominator. To lazy to look it up. I'm betting A team with a young Captain hasnt won the cup.
But to be fair. It's not like 5% of the league is above ten. So the odds not be with you

Re: Yep...for close to the same amount of money
Yeah, that’s true. I wonder what player has the highest % of cap to win a Cup is though. Might still be Eichel (as cap was slightly higher when Barkov/Bobrovsky won it) but maybe it’s someone like Crosby or Malkin. Crosby has made $8.7M/year forever now. That’s been a good bargain for years now but back when they won their cups the cap was a lot lower so that $8.7M would’ve taken up a larger % of the total cap.
Re: Yep...for close to the same amount of money
There is a line in Miracle when Herb Brooks replied about NHL All Stars getting beat by the Russians. “All Star teams focus on individual talent; the Russians take that talent and put it into a TEAM.” Maybe not the exact quote but close.
Re: Yep...for close to the same amount of money
The dad bod. Loved that he did his post game shirtless after winning the cup. That was epicSTL fan in MN wrote: ↑23 May 2025 13:38 pmTrue but TB using the LTIR loophole and being $18M over the Cap was the only way they were able to do that.

Keep it all to yourself and don't post anything else until Army is gone. That's what you said you were going to do. So at least pretend to have some credibility and keep to your word. That was your choice to assume I was referring to you. You're not on anybody's team. Get your insecurities solved first.

I promise to be 5% better next year. I know that you love that goal, and you'll love me for it.

Possibly there could be a reevaluation after Army is gone. That timeframe fits your stated position and intentions. But bear in mind that a 5% increase on Zero trust is still no trust.
