Crav probably has more insight, but he’s coming back from the dead. Also consider that he’s still only 21 years old and in his same “season age” as Chase Davis was last year when he “turned the corner”.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑20 May 2025 10:59 amIs Baez still considered a legit prospect? Seems like he's been around forever...I think he's having a decent year.
Thoughts on his game and future?
Baez age 22 season

Davis age 22 season

Re: Minor League Updates (5/20) ~ Cards System
he changed his swing...he's gone from an extreme Flyball rate, to a more low line drive, with an exaggerated ground ball rate. The result is more hits (singles, mostly) than ever before, less K's....he's hitting ground ball singles at High A , you expect with better defense against him, some of those ground balls won't find holes in AA, and then more of those ground balls won't find holes in AAA, etc.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑20 May 2025 10:59 amIs Baez still considered a legit prospect? I'm extremely happy for him...I hope this continues for him. He could well be on his way to a legit line drive hitter profile??? I don't know. His bat is finding every single ball, and making mostly good contact...that's a plus. Maybe he can keep building on this?
I prescribe caution from fans.

Thanks. Wonder if he's legitimately turned a corner or if he's just riding a nice hot streak? I also don't know about his overall game, i.e glove, throwing arm, instincts, base running.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑20 May 2025 11:03 amCrav probably has more insight, but he’s coming back from the dead. Every time I get my hopes up on the kid, Crav comes and whizzes in my cereal.craviduce wrote: ↑20 May 2025 11:07 amhe changed his swing...he's gone from an extreme Flyball rate, to a more low line drive, with an exaggerated ground ball rate. This update is definitely better than the 'hope the kid can still get his college education' convo we last had. Hopefully, this new iteration of his swing gets him back towards prospect status.

you see...we have the convo about him going to college, he changes the swing. He's been hitting the ball on the ground ever since. I make the assessment today about the ground and pound, and he Hits a Double on a Line and HR in back-to-back AB's.Sweet Jones wrote: ↑20 May 2025 11:41 amEvery time I get my hopes up on the kid, Crav comes and whizzes in my cereal.craviduce wrote: ↑20 May 2025 11:07 amhe changed his swing...he's gone from an extreme Flyball rate, to a more low line drive, with an exaggerated ground ball rate. He responds to my critiques rather well. I hope he can afford me going forward.

Baez trying to get into that Springfield OF with Chase Davis.
Re: Minor League Updates (5/20) ~ Cards System
Current pitcher for the Dayton Dragons looks like a young Randy Johnson without nearly the ability or height.
