What will it take to fill the stands?
What will it take for the best fans in baseball to return? 1st place in the Cental by June? 10 games over .500? 15 games?
Re: What will it take to fill the stands?
Your second point may be one to watch as Wal Mart announced on national news that by end of month they will be raising prices due to the tariffs .
Possibly some of that increase would have gone to buying tix for a Cardinal game ? Who knows

Probably true.Dicktar2023 wrote: ↑17 May 2025 21:49 pmDowntown is no more (bleep) than it was three years ago, when the stands were filled.
But folks are less likely to put up with it when paying a 25% higher premium across the board.
The environment is part of the experience and when millions of people within driving distance of the stadium are struggling with the cost of living, they become less likely to part with financial resources.
DeWitt picked a terrible time to deliver an inferior product over the past few seasons - and even with the product possibly improving in the future, not all fans will return.

“Best” means “smartest,” not “most blindly loyal.”
To answer the question, if the team keeps playing well and the old, white, Safe Charles crowd realizes that traveling downtown isn’t an immediate death sentence, the stands will fill.

Bad premise. The best fans in baseball didn’t abandon their team. They abandoned an owner who that stopped investing in his product and an incompetent POBO.

He knows that. They all know that. It’s being willfully obtuse at this point.peterman'srealitytour wrote: ↑17 May 2025 22:18 pmBad premise. The best fans in baseball didn’t abandon their team. They abandoned an owner who that stopped investing in his product and an incompetent POBO.

Ummm people have been shot and killed leaving the Cards games, you know this correct? I don't blame anyone for having trepidation when it comes to going downtown.desertrat23 wrote: ↑17 May 2025 22:10 pm“Best” means “smartest,” not “most blindly loyal.”

Until they make a safety a top priority I don't blame anyone not wanting to go.

I would be very interested to read a story about someone being shot and killed leaving a Cardinals game. And so would you.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑17 May 2025 22:59 pmUmmm people have been shot and killed leaving the Cards games, you know this correct? Again, parking garage attached to the stadium. I promise you’ll live through the experience and no homeless person will talk to you for more than a second or two.

Ownership cut as much as possible and tried for much more, then fielded a roster they didn’t even think could win, then tried selling the lame reset talking point, and how they will spend in the future, reminding fans of the dry-powder jargon nonsense.peterman'srealitytour wrote: ↑17 May 2025 22:18 pmBad premise. Luckily for the fans, the players took matters into their own hands and played better. There are probably fans that want to come back to the park and support them, but they remember, and are not eager to re-stuff “DeWallet”. (Always hated that term but it fits in this context)

Well, look. I'm as happy as anyone about how this season has turned. That said, we're in the middle of May here and the Cardinals are 6 games over .500. A quarter of a season isn't going to erase a decade of (right or wrong) perceived failures all around as an organization.
