Breaking: Manager fired
Orioles fired manager Brandon Hyde..
3rd manager to bite the dust in less than 1/3 of season.
3rd base coach Tony Mansolino replaces him.

Re: Breaking: Manager fired
Haven't watched Baltimore that closely. I know they are in a big slide. Is the manager to blame or is it chalked up again to broken pitching and too much IL?
Hyde didn't get very far into the postseason when they were good, so there wasn't much cred to rest on, I would imagine.
Here's hoping they don't get into a reactive winning streak when we get to town on the 26th....

Just the nature of sports.. Bud Black was one of most respected baseball guys around. He finally got axed too.
Every mlb manager says.. when you are hired you realize down the road you are going to be fired ! Just how it goes
Sometime Oli will get it too.
Use to be a saying. It’s easier to fire one head coach/manager than the whole roster when team is losing.

Would any of them trade for Oli? His value is as high now as it likely will ever be....
Re: Breaking: Manager fired
Less patience than years back. Managers released at end of seasons .
I am old enough to remember when Dallas Cowboys entered nfl as expansion team. Back then thr other teams had to give up 2 of 3 back end scrubs to build Cowboys roster.
Tom Landry, fine Giant asst. , hired ad Dallas 1st coach.
With those bad players they had 1 winning game .
He wan’t fired for owner knew players bad but had excellent coach.
Today owners would have canned Landry after thst first season.
Heck later Jerry Jones bought the team and he fired Landry before he coached a game for Jerry.
Jerry wanted his own guy.
Fired the guy who later was voted into Hall of Fame.
Re: Breaking: Manager fired
The Orioles react to their new boss by giving up 6 runs in the first inning against the Nats. Kyle Gibson is charged with them all in two-thirds of an inning, then he's relieved by Charlie Morton.
It's an unfortunate inning but it's also symbolic of Baltimore's approach to SP. Other FO people should be leaving soon.

yessir -- they were afraid of pulling the trigger on trading some of their incredible everyday player talent for pitching. pitching still rules.jcgmoi wrote: ↑17 May 2025 15:55 pm The Orioles react to their new boss by giving up 6 runs in the first inning against the Nats. Gibson has now started 4 games for Baltimore and given up 23 earned runs in 11.2 IP.jcgmoi wrote: ↑17 May 2025 15:55 pm The Orioles react to their new boss by giving up 6 runs in the first inning against the Nats. Charlie Morton has started 5 games for the 0's and given up 24 earned runs in 17.1 IP.

Zach Eflin was pitching well but is now on the IL, has not pitched since May 11. Sugano has been good, but their other starters have struggled, and of course the Orioles let Corbin Burnes sign elsewhere.

Re: Breaking: Manager fired
Landry was ahead of his time but he seemed to be too loyal to his old players. He invented the shotgun. If you watch a replay of Tampa's super bowl win Brady threw a touchdown to Gronkowski on a play where the tight end after snap crosses behind the line of scrimmage and catches the pass. That's an old Tom Landry play.ramfandan wrote: ↑17 May 2025 12:35 pmLess patience than years back. Managers released at end of seasons .
