Random thought while watching Graceffo pitch tonight.

He reminds me of Lance Lynn when Lance came up. Similar build, similar stuff, always a starter but stuff plays real nice in the pen, and seems to have an edge to him like Lynn did.

So I might be totally off on this, but I seem to remember a few springs ago he showed up and was throwing with some velocity that they hadn't seen before and he was really turning some heads, so they were thinking that they might really have something there as a starting pitching prospect if he could maintain that velocity over a starting workload. I guess that really hasn't happened, so maybe this is that pivot to the bullpen moment that they decide that the guy isn't going to make it as a starter. He has certainly looked pretty good so far in this role.

I don't know. I don't follow the minors as much as others, so I can't say if it's time to proclaim him a closer candidate after Helsley or not, but it does seem like he could succeed there.

I'd try both Roycroft and Leahy as closers before Graceffo. I'd rather see him get a better chance to start.

Gordon needs a third pitch to be a starter

He needs a change or splitter to add to heater/slider

If not he can be a solid bullpen guy

I don't think it's a done deal that Graceffo is a bullpen arm for ever. Thats just where the opportunity is right now on the big club. It's great that he's getting a run at getting ML hitters out. Hopefully learning every time out. Hopefully still developing pitches.

Space is going to clear by the end of the season in the starting rotation. McGreevy and Graceffo should get their shots.

Roycroft's sinker is a top 10 pitch in baseball by Stuff+

It was last year, he had trouble finding it at the beginning of this year, then he got sent down and immediately fixed it so that it's better than ever.

Likely being primed to replace Helsley midseason if he's dealt or in 2026.

I would NOT mess w/Leahy, he's too valuable handling the role he's in and closing is a different animal than being a set-up man.

T. Hence (IMO) would make a solid closer too, high velo fastball and great change-up reminds me of D. Williams.

Unless we get a top pitching prospect for Helsley dealing him is a waste. If we QO Helsley he turns it down in order to get a multi-year multi-million contract. Same with Fedde.
