Rose and shoeless Joe hof eligible
Ok with shoeless Joe. Not the pedo
Re: Rose and shoeless Joe hof eligible
From my understanding, the 300+ writers will no determine his fate.
It will be a committee of 16 where he would need 12 of 16 votes.
According to mlb show , consideration won’t be til 2027 and if selected would be for the Class of 2028

I mean, it is the national baseball hall of fame, isn't it? Not the Hall of the morally superior. I think Pete Rose was an abhorrent human being, but also a hall of fame player, as most would agree by statistics alone.
Re: Rose and shoeless Joe hof eligible
isn't that when Albert and Yadi would go into the HOF? THat's great....all they need that weekend is to answer questions about Pete Rose instead of themselves
Re: Rose and shoeless Joe hof eligible
Morality has nothing to do with Rose's ban. He broke a cardinal rule of baseball: MLB Rule 21(d) states: "(2) Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform, shall be declared permanently ineligible."redbird1.2.3.4 wrote: ↑13 May 2025 17:42 pm I mean, it is the national baseball hall of fame, isn't it? Here we go, the Hall of Fame in the age of the beta males.
Re: Rose and shoeless Joe hof eligible
It would be a weird reporter to ask a newly inducted player his opinion on another and if asked. (If it was me) I would smile replying. ‘ I feel it inappropriate to comment on any other player.
I am very proud to be enshrined today.

I have maintained for some time that while he was alive, he had no place in the HOF. Now that he is dead the "lifetime" suspension would seem to be over. Just my opinion, for how little it is worth.

MLB is only doing this because they’re a bunch of hypocrites who fully support gambling now.
It’s a shame they waited until he died. MLB and the owners are self serving schmucks.

I don't care how delicately one answers the reporters' question....I don't want Yadi and Albert going into the HOF at the same time as that Circus with Rose and Shoeless Joeramfandan wrote: ↑13 May 2025 19:06 pmIt would be a weird reporter to ask a newly inducted player his opinion on another and if asked. That’s not the criteria.redbird1.2.3.4 wrote: ↑13 May 2025 17:42 pm I mean, it is the national baseball hall of fame, isn't it? Not the Hall of the morally superior. I think Pete Rose was an abhorrent human being, but also a hall of fame player, as most would agree by statistics alone.
5. Voting: Voting shall be based upon the player's record, playing ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character and contributions to the team(s) on which the player played.

Understand how some viewed the penalty as ‘lifetime’ suspension, however if one reads the Rule 21 (as posted earlier),the word ‘lifetime’ does not appear.DwaininAztec wrote: ↑13 May 2025 19:08 pm I have maintained for some time that while he was alive, he had no place in the HOF. The penalty last line says ‘permanent ‘
In my mind permanent has no end time. Would mean forever and ever.
I am not an attorney .
It actually seems odd that someone on a ‘permanent ineligible’ list for anything could be removed from said list.

Understand your feelings. Could have awkward moments.craviduce wrote: ↑13 May 2025 19:11 pmI don't care how delicately one answers the reporters' question....I don't want Yadi and Albert going into the HOF at the same time as that Circus with Rose and Shoeless Joeramfandan wrote: ↑13 May 2025 19:06 pmIt would be a weird reporter to ask a newly inducted player his opinion on another and if asked. Well, most reporters I've met are certainly weird.ramfandan wrote: ↑13 May 2025 19:06 pmIt would be a weird reporter to ask a newly inducted player his opinion on another and if asked. (If it was me) I would smile replying. ‘ I feel it inappropriate to comment on any other player.

anything to justify all the associations and money schemes now developing around gambling. That is all this is.
Re: Rose and shoeless Joe hof eligible
So dumb. Rose deserved a speech
