Would VS2 have caught that ball if Walker didn’t cut in front of him?

Not that it matters one bit, but just curious. What do you think?

Watched the replay a couple times, and it appeared Scott would have caught it if Walker did not. I am just glad they did not collide. 8O

Probably but it likely would have been a sliding catch. I'll take a running catch over a slide any day.

It was a fine catch by Walker, but I think Scott pulled up in the last few feet as he felt the freight train a-comin'. I think he catches it without a dive.

Answer Yes!
Watched the replay several times. Both players on line yo thr ball.
Unsure if either player called for it but At the last second you could see Scott angle back a bit to avoid collision with Walker.
We don’t know if Walker yelled ‘Mine’ or whatever word they use on this team.
At 6-6, 250 I can see why Scott ‘gave way’ to Walker.
Hate to think of Scott after head on collision with that freight train.

Agree. CSII catches this standing up, but was wise to give way to the NFL DE running a 4.6 and bearing down on the QB!

I’ve watched it a couple of times since the game ended and I’m not as convinced about Scott catching the ball as some on here are. Doesn’t matter though as Walker made the play and no one got hurt.

The one thing I did notice is Walker not being tentative on the fly ball and taking charge to make the play. In the past we have seen Walker pull up on that 50/50 ball hoping someone else would make the play. Good communication too as we saw Scott pull up on the ball at the last second.

When Walker was live on espn mic for an hour due to a long sunday night inning of getting thrashed by Boston, he explained that him and Victor have a system of communication to keep them from colliding on plays like that. Guess it worked.

Isn't that the truth.
It often isn't pretty when the Clydesdale T-Bones a Thoroughbred.
Wait, I think Baker was the Clydesdale. Maybe Belgium hasn't been taken.
Anyway, could have been a trainwreck for the season. VS2 did a nice job avoiding that potential. Good communication possibly by both.
Sure, the communication could have been feeling the ground move, hearing the train coming down the tracks, etc. ............
Possibly good peripheral awareness by VS2.
But nice aggressive approach with a good route by Walker. Awesome. I didn't want to see Harper in that situation.

Yes I remember that. Those two young men seem quite intelligent. The more they play together, the better the communication will be. Like the BP, set roles defensively really help a team. It would have been a terrible train wreck had communication not taken place.....

JW has his issues at the plate, but the strides he has made on D have been quite amazing. I don't know how much Jay's coaching has to do with it, or just that a young guy now has a lot or reps in the RF and is getting comfortable. He has the arm for RF and now he is starting to play very solid D out there.

Reminds me of a couple years ago when they had Bader mic'd up in CF. He explained the system too. (as most know, the CF is in charge in the OF .There is a saying ' Every ball hit to the OF is the Center Fielder's ball unless he cant get to it ). SO on those gapper types, as both runners start running to the ball, Bader would make the call either "MINE MINE ' or YOU got it YOU got it something like that .
If he hollers MINE the other OF then slants behind Bader in case he can't get to it so the ball doesn't hopefully go to the wall. If Bader yells YOURS YOURS.. then the corner OF knows Bader is running on angle backing him up .
Without using a system , players would crash and possibly wipe both guys out for a while.
