The 101.1 mid day and fastlane all have an eye on simon nemec
What do you think it would take to get him. He has defiantly not living up to his draft pedigree. They were talking kyrou or a package.

He would be a welcome addition, IMO. But it will take a LOT more than Kyrou to pry him loose.

It would not take more than Kyrou.
The Devils would likely need to add.
Re: Simon Nemec
Can you recall what Rivers in particular had to say on this? Nemic's season and the Kyrou compensation?
He had a good post season but man seems this deal comes with risk.
Re: Simon Nemec
Nemec isn’t worth Kyrou. You don’t trade a 1st line winger for a guy who may still bust.

I think it's not well set up as a 1-for-1 kind of deal. NJ would really value a veteran, established winger like Kyrou with speed to complement their forward group so I could see Nemec & Kyrou being the biggest pieces.noted wrote: ↑12 May 2025 15:47 pmHe would be an awesome addition.Tabasco Flowers wrote: ↑12 May 2025 15:46 pmHe would be a welcome addition, IMO. We would probably be sending the Devils Kyrou plus something and they'd send Nemec plus something so that the overall deal was balanced. MN suggested maybe the Devils value Hofer given their goalie situation. I don't know if I'd want to do that, but if you can sign a UFA like Bennett now it's Bennett & Ellis instead of Kyrou & Hofer, plus Nemec in imminent waiting. Playing around with ideas.

Re: Simon Nemec
Nemec is not worth Kyrou. Not anymore anyway. A year or two ago? That’s probably what it would’ve taken to get Nemec. But now he’s 21, was drafted 3 years ago and still trying to stick in the NHL. He has some warts.
I wouldn’t remotely consider trading a 35 goal, 70+ point winger for a maybe with those kinds of warts.
That said, I am interested in Nemec. But it’d have to be a package based on a lesser piece. Like Bolduc or Hofer being the main piece going the other way.
But at the end of the day, we’re talking about a kid that still has a lot of potential but put up only 4 points and was a -10 (on a good team) in 27 games. There’s a real above zero chance he busts. You don’t trade your leading goal scorer for that.

Re: Simon Nemec
a year or two ago Kyrou was a defensive black hole winger getting paid 8M to be a tough fit on a line while Nemec was a D+1 second overall pick and projected #1 RHD. So the values have flipped quite a lot on both players.

I don't like kyrou and I'm not trading him for nemec. That would be a terrible trade for us.

I'm not trading a regular 30 goal scorer for potential on Defense.

Hmm I actually think I might rather trade Kyrou than BolducSTL fan in MN wrote: ↑12 May 2025 16:20 pm Nemec is not worth Kyrou. Not anymore anyway. A year or two ago? Re: Simon Nemec
Nonsense. He's not a Top 10 winger. He's a first line winger on virtually every team in the league.

Re: Simon Nemec
People are going to have to come to terms with the reality the Blues are going to have to pay a heavy price to get the RHD they very soon need.
They aren't drafting this player. If someone's stance is "well I only want a sure thing," please be very aware that that level of RHD is pretty much automatically worth at least an established scoring winger who is only average defensively. The reason is top RHD is way more valuable than top winger. That's just how it is.
