Re: Free agents to get
Ekblad wont happen too much money already wrapped up in D, maybe Bennet but hes going to get term and salary. Are Blues fans going to be happy with a center that puts up Schenn production, 20 goals 45-50 pts? Because thats what Bennet is he is quick and plays hard which i like
Re: Free agents to get
then go with duchene we just need a 1 or 2 year stop gap till dvorsky is ready,Harry S Deals wrote: ↑12 May 2025 13:28 pmEkblad wont happen too much money already wrapped up in D, maybe Bennet but hes going to get term and salary. We could move faulk and sign ekblad.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑12 May 2025 13:28 pmEkblad wont happen too much money already wrapped up in D, maybe Bennet but hes going to get term and salary. fowler parayko
broberg ekblad
leddy tucker
That might just work. Next year move out leddy and move kessel or a RHD that is ready.
Re: Free agents to get
Duchene seems the most realistic of those options and a guy you could bid pretty high on short term.

Re: Free agents to get
Wishful thinking, IMO. Army has said a 200 ft offensive player. That tells me he's maybe adding 1 UFA difference maker, the rest will be rearranging the deck chairs.
You're not adding to this D corps, and I doubt there are many takers for Faulk before UFA.
Duchene seems like a reasonable get. Bennett will get Schenn term and dollars, maybe more. Not sure he fits the Blues' salary structure.
Are we a Cap team next year? Has that been determined?
I think I read we have just under 6M in space, and that's not including Krug (who wasn't LTIR'ed this year?).
Re: Free agents to get
One key is the extra guys, if we add to the roster there won't really be spots for Texier and Joseph(really isn't anyway) and the is 5 million dollars.Army's Mom wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:00 pmWishful thinking, IMO. Re: Free agents to get
I'd imagine that Duchene re-signs with Dallas. It's a good fit all around and he was willing to go cheap there already. But he would be an ideal 2C for the next couple seasons until Dvo is ready to take the job, and we can certainly afford more than they can this summer. Rantanen and Johnston are due major raises (Rantanen only counts 4.5M for them this year). But something tells me he's back with them again. We'll see.

According to Spotrac, its 7.7 million BEFORE Krug LTIR.skilles wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:03 pmOne key is the extra guys, if we add to the roster there won't really be spots for Texier and Joseph(really isn't anyway) and the is 5 million dollars.Army's Mom wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:00 pmWishful thinking, IMO. Re: Free agents to get
Yeah from a cap standpoint we're fine. Presuming Krug to LTIR, the Blues will have 12M+ in space to work with. The only unsigned guys are Hofer, Suter, and Faksa. None would break the bank.TAFKAP wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:17 pmAccording to Spotrac, its 7.7 million BEFORE Krug LTIR.skilles wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:03 pmOne key is the extra guys, if we add to the roster there won't really be spots for Texier and Joseph(really isn't anyway) and the is 5 million dollars.Army's Mom wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:00 pmWishful thinking, IMO. From a roster space perspective yeah, there would have to be some decisions made if we get a bigger fish. But so it goes.

And that only includes 20 players, one of them being Schueneman. Make any sort or reasonable 23-man roster and the cap space shrinks real quick.TAFKAP wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:17 pmAccording to Spotrac, its 7.7 million BEFORE Krug LTIR.skilles wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:03 pmOne key is the extra guys, if we add to the roster there won't really be spots for Texier and Joseph(really isn't anyway) and the is 5 million dollars.Army's Mom wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:00 pmWishful thinking, IMO. That said, the Blues do have some cap space to play with. But not a ton.
I for one do not expect them to go after the biggest fish like Bennett and Ekblad.
I’m sure Dallas would want to keep Duchene but if he makes it to UFA he’d be one to kick the tires on for sure.
Tavares seems unlikely to come here or be affordable but it’s worth a phone call to check.
Maybe Brock Nelson or Yanni Gourde?
The sneaky get at RD to me is Dante Fabbro. All depends on how much term and AAV it would take to get him though.
Other pending UFA RDs would be Jokiharju, Hamonic, Ceci and Perbix.
Re: Free agents to get
This is why I have mention Seguin, they may well part with him for very little and maybe retain.bluetunehead wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:13 pm I'd imagine that Duchene re-signs with Dallas. Re: Free agents to get
I'd recommend PuckPedia for a better breakdown of the future roster and cap situation for what it's worth:
https://puckpedia.com/team/st-louis-blues
Next season we're at 13F, 8D, and 1G with 5.9M in space before any LTIR usage.
Once you put Krug to LTIR, you have 12.4M in space with 13F, 7D, and 1G. If Hofer takes 3M you've still got 9M left to replace or re-sign Faksa and Suter. The Blues are fine.

Re: Free agents to get
Army says he likes his top 4 defenseman for next year. I can't imagine the defense will be changing. I think the team will look pretty much the same as we finished this year.

Yeah, Seguin has a full NMC so he'd have to be willing to go, but I'm sure they will try.skilles wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:29 pmThis is why I have mention Seguin, they may well part with him for very little and maybe retain.bluetunehead wrote: ↑12 May 2025 14:13 pm I'd imagine that Duchene re-signs with Dallas.
