It's still hard to believe that the Blues were eliminated by the holder of the worst playoff goalie championship belt...

I beg to differ. The Blues were eliminated by the Blues.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑11 May 2025 18:05 pm It's still hard to believe that the Blues were eliminated by the holder of the worst playoff goalie championship belt...

Re: And so it begins....
Sadly, so very true.
Re: And so it begins....
I'm not convinced it's a "meltdown". Teams are continually going high over glove or blocker, getting more open looks, more traffic in front on road with matchup advantage.
Hellebuyck's low in the net style seems different than most. In the regular season Teams breeze in for single game matchups, rare back-to-backs. They do their thing and move on. In the playoffs Teams deep study their opponent and hammer perceived weaknesses over and over like their [playoff] life depends on it, because it does. Why isn't their a better book on Hellebuyck in the regular season? I think there is, opponents likely aren't as intensely focused on making adjustments as they are in the playoffs.
Frankly, the guy is sub-Oiler quality. Not that I'm biased or anything.

WTF was he doing on Rantanen’s goal? Looked like he was studying. Arniel needs to start Comrie for peg to have any chance at this series.

He looked like he had his stick out for a poke check despite Rantanen being 15 feet away. Just a bizarre play. The Jets just get lost when they’re pulled side to side like that.
Re: And so it begins....
I can’t imagine how he thought he was going to poke check him. I’d bet he’s just as bad on the road in game 4. Back to back Vezinas or not if you are Winnipeg and get blown out in Dallas again, marking his 5th consecutive road loss, Winnipeg might very well have to take a serious look at its goaltending situation.
So many of these games Hellebuyck isn't getting them a chance to win. Even if he has a decent 1st period his 2nd periods have been awful for him.

And good thing that our Bottom 6 showed up, because I could have beaten the Top 6 in goal.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑11 May 2025 18:05 pm It's still hard to believe that the Blues were eliminated by the holder of the worst playoff goalie championship belt...

Re: And so it begins....
Blues would have been a better matchup vs the Stars.
Stars have too much O to not embarrass Hellebuyck (Yes I know they got shut out in game 2). The fact that they won one game already in WPG means this series is over.

I doubt that anyone would be too surprised if either the Blues or Winnipeg would have been eliminated.
