Helsley

Post by hugeCardfan »

I love the guy and am glad he remains a Cardinal. However, does anybody know the number of guys who have led off against him in a save situation with a hit? Helsley sure can make even a 3 run lead interesting.

Fastballs right down the middle to get ahead on the count?

Don’t know the number of leadoff guys with hits (been quite a few) but also add in first batter walks too.

I believe about half of his saves last year were 1-2-3 innings, which is obviously not the case this season.

All I know is that 102 mph heater low in the strike zone to end the game was awesome.

OBP .583 for the first batter (might not include last night).

IF they swing at the 1st pitch BA .278 OBP .333 SLG .500

Got to remember for this year, there he's only had 12 appearance, so small sample

2024 with a sample of 65 guys being 1st to try him in a game BA .170 OBP .246 SLG .237

For his career the numbers are closer to 2024 then 2025

He didnt most of last year with half almost being 123. He hasnt been as sharp this year but its small sample size(although i didnt think he would replicate last years dominance)

He's on a pace for less than half of last year's saves. Hard to stay sharp if we can't get him to a lead in the 9th.
