Keep winning 2 of 3 in the home series and strive for .500 on the road.
The SP has exceeded so far. Ride that to more success on the road.

Re: Formula for this year's team
Winning two-thirds of home games and playing 500 on the road totals 94 wins. That would be nice but is it a strategy?
Re: Formula for this year's team
You guys better get with the program. Mo made it very clear last year that they don’t want to put stress on the manager to win. Very few if any moves on the field have been made to help this team compete. There is no formula to win.
Re: Formula for this year's team
Not a strategy, more like a pipe dream, as would be waiting for a 17 game winning streak to happen.
A strategy to strive to win at a higher clip now would be to quit giving so much playing time to negative WAR players, which would currently include Walker, Burleson and Gorman while becoming buyers before the trade deadline. It'd also want to keep players like Arenado, Helsley, etc. instead of more likely trading them off for prospects.
Trying to win this year is not the stated goal from the Cards FO for this season from what I can gather, which isn't much, but instead they are trying to find out what they have in players like Walker and Gorman while trying to position themselves back into a more competitive team hopefully as soon as next season.
The current team can sometimes tease itself as almost looking like a decent team worth investing into this year, and maybe a Blues type streak before the deadline could change the Cards FO's outlook for this season, but if more likely that doesn't happen, a winning strategy for the 2025 Cardinals doesn't look like the intended goal.

And Walker has a +0.2 dWAR right now, too. Wish his hitting was improving as much as his defense has.JDW wrote: ↑05 May 2025 08:15 amNot a strategy, more like a pipe dream, as would be waiting for a 17 game winning streak to happen.

His line drive rate is the best of his career (18.3%), his groundball% is the lowest of his career (43.7%), his average EV is 91, his pull% is the lowest of his career (29.2%)/oppo highest at 31%, his hard hit% is the highest at 43.7%, his walk% is up from last year, but below his 2023 level. But the downside is his chase rate is now going up (35%) and his contact% is down (67.5%) and zone contact% is his lowest (81.7%).

So chase rate eliminates all the other good stats.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑05 May 2025 10:23 amAnd Walker has a +0.2 dWAR right now, too. Re: Formula for this year's team
Current bWARS: Walker -0.2, Burleson -0.2, Gorman -0.3.
I'm for the Cards playing Walker and Gorman to see if they can adjust and succeed at the MLB level with their perceived potentially high ceiling.
My only attempted point if I even had one, was the strategy/formula as far as I can tell for this year is not focused on winning. If it was you shouldn't be playing these 3 players as often.
