Jon Gruden in the house tonight

Post by Uncle John »

He posted a video on Facebook saying he is flying to St. Louis today to be at the Blues game tonight. He said he will be at Ballpark Village before the Blues game to meet with St. Louis sports fans.

Gruden was at Union Station before the Blues game, not Ballpark Village like he said on his Facebook video. Video of his Blues speech at Union Station yesterday posted on his Facebook page.

Why are we rallying around a guy that got fired from his job for being a homophobic racist?

I've thought about this. Gruden said some amazingly stupid stuff, but it was in private emails to Bruce Allen who if I recall correctly were released them bc he is a spiteful P[ositively] O[bnoxious] S[impleton]. That doesn't justify what he did. I guarantee you what he said about 90% of everyone with ties to the NFL also says and think, especially in private. Again, not a justification. These are neanderthals, not Ben and Jerry's employees.

I'm not here to be all political but some of these folks deserve a chance to repair reputations. I don't know where the line is with that, honestly no idea. Louis CK is back to touring and he jerked off in front of women for giggles backstage at shows. I'm sure I could go look for others who have been given a second chance. Gruden lost a sweet job (rightfully so) and he probably won't ever coach again. If he made legit efforts to change his behavior then I'm (just me, not society) willing to let him spam twitter in a (bleep) funny way about the Blues.

I appreciate your well thought out response. You’re right, people do deserve a second chance.

I'm from out of town. Are the nightmare shirts a thing in STL? Did Gruden start that or did it come from somewhere else?

Yes, I can google, but I'd rather have a real response. I like the phrase given the Blues home record.

Thanks! I love random catch phrases and stuff. City identity and all.
