Our public enemy #1 for so many years is finally gone. At 82, I have to think he's not coming back.

With Lou having just completed exit interviews with the NYI players, and a ton of decisions to make, they have to move quickly to replace him.

With multiple NYI RFAs this year (Noah Dobson, Alexander Romanov, Maxim Tsyplakov), and a GM transition, could NYI be a target for an offer sheet?

With how many picks we've had to forfeit to Lou over the years, stealing Dobson would be the ultimate payback.

Surely the Isles wouldn't be stupid enough to let that happen...

With everything I've read, regarding Mr. Dobson, they would love for someone to offer sheet him.

IMO in order to keep the Isles from just matching any offer sheet to Dobson, it would have to be really large. They have a lot of flexibility the next few seasons with the cap going up, so that’s going to be tough for a fairly pragmatic team like the Blues. The Isles are not in a situation like the Oilers who backed themselves into a corner with Broberg and Holloway and couldn’t afford to match.

Now a trade might be more plausible, though there would be plenty of interest. There is a lot of smoke that the Isles aren’t completely enamored with him. Maybe the new GM wants to go in a different direction? We’ll see.

While I agree with you and despise him too, he's very good at his job and that's the reason that we despise him.

Ask yourself this simple question: Stevens or Shanahan?

I'd take Scott Stevens everyday and seven times on Sunday.

Blues management made a horrible decision and we paid the price.

Oh I agree, the Blues made a TON of unforced errors. They could've probably had both Stevens and Shanahan, frankly, with a better offer than Joseph and Brindamour. But plenty of prognosticators commented that the offer was fair, and that Lou had to have something on Judge Houston to get him to pick the Devils counter proposal of Stevens. Thus the fan hatred and caricature of Uncle Lou as a mob boss.

As for the NYI situation, a new GM and President will mean a possible new direction. Does Dobson want to commit to that uncertainty? They will not have as much time for negotiations. There won't be the same loyalty to a new GM. Same thing happened with the Oil, Bowman was on the job for a week when the offer sheets hit.

True, NYI has more cap space than the Oilers did. But they also have multiple other holes to address, and three (instead of two) RFAs. Maybe you offer sheet Dobson and Romanov and force them to pick one? Romanov wouldn't be a bad get, and would replace Leddy.

If its a teardown, the new gm might really prefer the picks especially if dobson is not viewed as the cornerstone d to build around. Despite the owner with big pockets, a drifting franchise with really (bleep) attendance. Realistically they should move. Long Island is not supporting this team.


On a side note. Will Islander players finally be allowed to grow beards?
