His 143 OPS+ pretty much does put him in the not-quite-elite tier... same as his present day salary compared to the elite present day salaries. If he finishes the season with a 140 OPS+ he'll be a 5-6 bWAR player. Suffice to say, he's earning his money with roughly 1/8 of the season gone.

That aside, the Cardinals aren't paying him "33/34 million," why not at least try to be accurate in what the guy costs if you're going to bring up the peanuts Burly is making?

Arenaso is hitting and fielding well. Keep up. Contreras has a track record and has earned leeway while he works through his issues. Burleson is a one tool guy whose one tool is nothing special. Before this season Burleson was a special "bat to ball" guy who could hit "stout right handers" or "crafty lefties,". Now you're trying to spin him as a tremendous value.
