todays broadcast tandem is much better without thompson
I hope we hear more of these 2 guys without thompson...thompson seems like a noce guy but he is so overly earnest and childlike that it is enough to make me turn down the sound

Sweeney is a big improvement over Brad. Not a cheerleader, he delivers facts and very professionally.

I actually like Brad Thomas. I don’t know if anyone more quick whited then he. I get that many don’t like his humor all the time but it doesn’t bother me.
Then again, I liked Edmonds and Dan too. I think I just love listening to baseball.

we all love listening to baseball but some broadcasters are better than others...todays tandem allowed me to leave the sound on...that is my criteria...also having a serious sidekick made carey better...he didnt feel the need to try to match the silly childish nonsense of thomson...it was just more professional today

Don't know. With the VPN and MLB TV, I tune in to the opponent's broadcasts to get far away from BT.

Come on, guys, not to be a grammar Nazi, but if we're fans we should know how to spell their names: It's Chip Caray, not Carey; and Brad Thompson, not Thomson or Thomas. This is not Mike Krzyzewski territory.jbrach wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 16:37 pm we all love listening to baseball but some broadcasters are better than others...todays tandem allowed me to leave the sound on...that is my criteria...also having a serious sidekick made carey better...he didnt feel the need to try to match the silly childish nonsense of thomson...it was just more professional today
Many years ago I was part of a KMOX round table with Jeff Gordon and a few others. One fan called in to rip then-GM "Dell Maxwell", whom the caller claimed to also know personally.

I've grown this weekend to like Mark Sweeney. Another poster likened Thompson to sounding like a used-car salesman; just too slick and polished, when Jim Edmonds wasn't polished enough behind a mic. Then again , Edmonds complained about too little training. It showed.
At least our TV crew is not like that godawful pair currently debasing some SF Giants games --- obviously, not the great Jon Miller, nor the (OK) Duane Kuiper or Mike Krukow --- , whom I sometimes hear on the MLB Network's morning recap. Whomever this pair is, they are downright unlistenable. You'd think before hiring people for such a high-profile job, the powers that be might LISTEN to them first.
