Say what you will about the guy, he's come through for us a lot in a relatively short time. Best back-up catcher since...?

Oli is very smart because his big "interesting" move did not burn him this time.
Playing Burleson at DH and Donovan at 1B would have made things less "interesting".
It proved to be a good move.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 22:55 pmSometimes it’s better to be lucky than smart oli got luckycardstatman wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 22:38 pmPlaying Donovan as DH was "interesting"since he had no other infielders.

At the end of the day, the result of almost every managers decision is based on player performance, so yea, some luck is always needed.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 22:55 pmSometimes it’s better to be lucky than smart oli got luckycardstatman wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 22:38 pmPlaying Donovan as DH was "interesting"since he had no other infielders.

Herzog would have been called a genius for the move. 2B is overrated as a defensive position. After all, Jeff Kent played @B for years, after stinking at #B.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025 01:22 amYea credit were credits due to luck. Just what other options did he have? I’ll give him credit when it is earned. I’ll give credit to Pages for doing his best, but Oli as manager, should have had more foresight into this possible situation.ecleme22 wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025 01:19 amIt proved to be a good move.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 22:55 pmSometimes it’s better to be lucky than smart oli got luckycardstatman wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 22:38 pmPlaying Donovan as DH was "interesting"since he had no other infielders.
