Mark Sweeney, Cards' TV Analyst?
This is my first time hearing him with Chip Caray. Is Sweeney, a 1B/OF/PH for 14 seasons with 7 teams, a new Cardinals hire? I recall him working several seasons for the Padres pregame/postgame TV crew with journeyman pitcher Bob Scanlon (6 teams) in San Diego.

Yep, former work with Padres.

I like Sweeney. Good analysist and doesn't constantly talk like Brad.

And the best part….he doesn’t sound like a used car salesman!redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 20:44 pm I like Sweeney. Good analysist and doesn't constantly talk like Brad.
Seriously, a HUGE upgrade over BT. Hopefully someone in the cards’ organIzation realizes that.

Sweeny is 100 mtimes better than Thompson, Brad is a complete IDIOT that does a lot of word salad and NEVER shuts up!!!!!!

Re: Mark Sweeney, Cards' TV Analyst?
He analyzes better than Brad …
One example. , Phillies have Stott with 3-1 count .. Sweeny knowing
Phillies trailing by 2 with Tres Turner on deck states
‘He won’t swing at 3-1 pitches with Turner next.
Stott did take hoping for a ball to bring Turner up as tying run at plate.
No way Brad would have given that to us.
Shows Sweeney is thinking of
the game strategy at the time.
Great job, Mark !
That’s what a good analyst can do. Keep it up.

Oh, man... got that right. I can't even watch an entire game with that loud-mouthed clown. He's like an obsequious and annoying TV weatherman who rehearses his enthusiasm, an enthusiasm that's way over the top. Brad Thompson, huh; I call him 'Sonny Skies.'

Thought he was outstanding. Think he gets 40 games.
Re: Mark Sweeney, Cards' TV Analyst?
Best duo the Cards have had in the booth in a long time
Re: Mark Sweeney, Cards' TV Analyst?
In a feature article on Sweeny , he mentioned the 40 game gig was about right for him . He said doing that full time would be quite a grind for him as Brad does right now.

He was fantastic on the Pads pre/post game coverage, and always did well filling in on color.
He should be the Cards #1 color man, but Brad T will never go away.
