I'm all for the Portal, but....
Having the ability to enter the portal twice in a single offseason is ridiculous. Mikai Gbayor should not be able to transfer already. That is insane. One can only assume any NIL money given to the kid must get returned. Even if true, my point stands.

Unfortunately, the only way to LEGALLY limit the portal (and NIL) is a CBA with the players. First problem is there’s no one to negotiate a CBA. The NCAA MIGHT represent the schools, but that’s not going to fly with the top 50-60 schools. Second, there’s no players’ association to to represent the players. Who’s going to take on that monumental task? This isn’t organizing 700-800 players. D-1 college athletes number in the tens of thousands of athletes who have very different perspectives. Can the same CBA represent football and basketball players and wrestlers and cheerleaders? Finally, any agreement would require recognizing the athletes as employees, and I know the SCHOOLS don’t want that and I don’t know if all the athletes would. That’s why NIL has to go through a third party. As it is, with the $20.5 million that schools have to share with players, you’re more than 1/2 way there.

I have no issue with him leaving. He probably came out of the spring 4th or 5th on the depth chart and we only start 2 LB. Apparently Rodriguez had a huge spring, so I don’t mind him looking for somewhere he can play.
