Why not Scott, Nootbaar and Donovan at the top?
Right now, it just seems to make sense. At least against RH starting pitching. And Contreras at 6 or 7.

If Marmol insists on Contreras trying to hit out of his slump, bat him lower in the batting order. It wouldn't hurt to play Burleson and Baker more at 1B. Cards need to find out more about Baker anyway.

Thought the same thing today- why not let Scott lead off after the big game he had in the lead off spot and move WC down to allow him to get hot in a less crucial spot in the order?
Seems like Marmol is in a constant state of mental paralysis.

Not sure which is Marmol’s biggest problem?Rosie's Rule wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 21:22 pm Thought the same thing today- why not let Scott lead off after the big game he had in the lead off spot and move WC down to allow him to get hot in a less crucial spot in the order?

Stupidity?
Or
Stubbornness?
Re: Why not Scott, Nootbaar and Donovan at the top?
Will Contreras be back at #2 tomorrow vs Nola? It's so obvious that Scott, Nootbaar, and Donovan should be the top three vs RHP at this time. With his speed and SB ability, Scott needs a better chance at 5 ABs a game. Where should Contreras hit in the lineup the way he's struggling? #6 probably makes sense, right now. Hopefully, he can work his way back up into a higher spot. Like he's being paid to do.

Gentlemen,
I don't tinker with Scott or Walker at this stage. After many a struggle they are starting to flash. Patience grasshoppers before tossing them back into the pan and they become simply the latest flashs in the pan.
This is a Lost Season.By intent..possibly necessity. Develop, grow, polish. The Wins will come once our stocks mature. Let's see em have a Season of Success. Peaks and Valley sure but the heads must stay above water for the long haul and finish on an upstroke, and not sucking wind!!!

Re: Why not Scott, Nootbaar and Donovan at the top?
I feel that Nootbaar is close to earning the leadoff spot the same way Carpenter did back in the day. It's clear he makes a difference there. No need to start disassembling the batting order.
Why mess with Scott doing so well down in the order. Having Scott and Winn 8 and 9 and then Nootbaar 1 makes it almost like having Scott Winn and Nootbaar 1-2-3. I think it'll help Winn get going to have Scott on base infront of him so he can focus on punching the ball to the right side to move Scott to 3rd.

Even through his “slump” he’s been getting on base. Guys aren’t knocking him in. Noot is leadoff he has a 130 wRC for goodness sakes.imadangman wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 07:31 am I feel that Nootbaar is close to earning the leadoff spot the same way Carpenter did back in the day. 100%. Idiotic to move Noot out of the 1st. He’s walking 15% of the time. He has a wRC+ 130. I wouldn’t mind seeing Scott move up eventually but not leadoff this isn’t 1990s baseball. Maybe they can move Siani to 2nd in the order and bunt him over…..imadangman wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 07:31 am I feel that Nootbaar is close to earning the leadoff spot the same way Carpenter did back in the day. After the first inning, it’s revolving. Like many things else, seems to be an issue initially.
Re: Why not Scott, Nootbaar and Donovan at the top?
It will be interesting to see if Walker is a fit at #2. Frankly, he still seems a little bit too much of a free swinger to hit at #2. As I've posted Scott, Noot and Donovan see like the better 1, 2, 3 combo.
Re: Why not Scott, Nootbaar and Donovan at the top?
Well, if Willson is the ‘cold’ bat right now, then that’s a good thing.
I’m glad it’s not our young unprovens.

I mean if tomorrow was a playoff game that lineup might be the right one. But it's April and I like leaving Scott lower with less pressure his first full year. But heck if they think it won't mess with his head then I'll support it if they do that 1-3.

Nootbaar 2 walks with 2 SB's. Weird that you want to move Noot out of LO.
