If you didn't have a chance to watch 60 Minutes last night, they ran a fascinating story about bourbon barrels - their manufacture, use and re-use. The final segment concern a Kentucky distiller that obtained some oak from the same lot in France that produced the oak used in the rebuilding of the Cathedral at Notre Dame. They take already aged bourbon and age it further in the cathedral oak barrels. $530 a bottle, but they're sold out. Video is about 14 minutes but worth it. By the way, the largest maker of oak barrels is Independent Stave Company - founded and still located in Lebanon Missouri.
