Marmol added that initial test results came back clean on Herrera’s knee and that it remains structurally sound despite the impending IL placement. Yohel Pozo's career journey is a testament to perseverance and talent. Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, he began his baseball career by representing Venezuela in the 2009 Little League World Series. In 2013, Pozo signed as an international free agent with the Texas Rangers, receiving a $100,000 signing bonus1. Over the years, he played in various minor league teams, steadily improving his performance and showcasing his skills.

Pozo made his MLB debut with the Texas Rangers on August 13, 2021, where he hit his first career home run. After being non-tendered by the Rangers in November 2021, he re-signed with them on a minor league contract1. He later joined the Oakland Athletics organization in December 2022.

Currently, Pozo is part of the St. Louis Cardinals organization and has been called up to the major league roster to fill in for Ivan Herrera, who is dealing with a knee injury
