Redbird Rants
I occasionally read articles on this sight, and today I saw one written by Scott Plaza, where he basically was criticizing some us here on Cards Talk for second guessing Oli after only a few games. Which made me wonder which one of the front office homers he is on here?
Last time I checked it is allowed for fans to discuss games and the things that they saw and either agree or disagree with. In my point of view, Oli makes it easy to second guess some moves he makes, and when he does I’m going to continue to point them out, or agree with others when they do. So, Scott, or whoever you are here on CT, it’s ok if you to like Oli and the way he manages a ballgame, but it’s also ok for me to disagree with some of the stupid things he continuously does!
Great win today, and a great game by Herrera, wonder if he’ll even get to hit tomorrow?

Bernie and the Gas House Gang on KMOX radio question Oli directly. Oli enjoys it. Liked being challenged and likes explaining what he's thinking.
It doesn't have to be rude and insulting. Actually a good give and take.

Just because you would have done it differently doesn't make him wrong. Just because a decision blows up doesn't make the decision wrong. As the saying goes, the other team has guys on scholarship, too.
And before you label me a FO homer, I'll be happy when Mo is gone (his time has past) and there is a different manager (he was the wrong choice to begin with).

I read the article. The author sounds like a dolt but seems to be referring to chatter on X. I didn’t see any references to Cards Talk.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025 17:40 pm I occasionally read articles on this sight, and today I saw one written by Scott Plaza, where he basically was criticizing some us here on Cards Talk for second guessing Oli after only a few games. agree with a lot of ^ but I can guarantee you Herrera will not get to hit tomorrow. That is, whole team day off.
When play again on Friday, it is guaranteed Herrera will hit with that inviting green monster.

This is true. Sometimes you make the good move and it blows up and sometimes you make a bad move and it works that’s baseball. But if you consistently make good decisions things will work well if you consistently make bad decisions the results will be bad. Oli is fairly consistent at making bad decisions. Hes a paint by numbers managers he needs to make the least amount of non formula decisions in order to win consistently. If the offense stays rolling the rotation keeps rolling and the back end of the bullpen stays solid in 7, 8, 9 he will be fine. If he actually has to manage it will be badimyourhuckleberry wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025 18:19 pmAll fair points, but...Hoosier59 wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025 17:40 pm I occasionally read articles on this sight, and today I saw one written by Scott Plaza, where he basically was criticizing some us here on Cards Talk for second guessing Oli after only a few games. That guy doesn't know much about baseball since questioning the Managers moves has been a time honored part of the game forever.

Agree, however, the world doesn’t suddenly become rosy when, and if, Oli is gone. He isn’t what ails me.rockondlouie wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 08:58 am That guy doesn't know much about baseball since questioning the Managers moves has been a time honored part of the game forever.

Most (if not all) associated with the St. Louis Cardinals in some way frequent message boards, subreddits, YT, etc to get a pulse of the fans and content ideas. It's a fairly high traffic spot. However, just because they read to absorb ides and content, doesn't mean they interract. In fact, anyone with a brain would be wise not to engage the majority of posters on this place in any kind of debate. It's called the insane asylum for a reason. lolHoosier59 wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025 17:40 pm I occasionally read articles on this sight, and today I saw one written by Scott Plaza, where he basically was criticizing some us here on Cards Talk for second guessing Oli after only a few games. This is a pretty common theme among all teams. Nothing new in sports.

Is it not ok for this red turd ranter to see the same bull[shirt] you do but from a different perspective? Isn't that the same basis of stoopid rant your criticizing?Hoosier59 wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025 17:40 pm I occasionally read articles on this sight, and today I saw one written by Scott Plaza, where he basically was criticizing some us here on Cards Talk for second guessing Oli after only a few games. Thx huge, I hope C. Bloom's got someone in mind (would love K. Cash but he's locked down by Bloom's old Rays).

Re: Redbird Rants
Its not the disagreement with some of Marmol's moves that is annoying to me. Heck, I'm old enough to remember when some fans turned on Herzog in early 1984 and said he was a lousy manager and an ego maniac after a terrible 1983 and the trade of Hernandez. Managers exist to be complained about. When teams lose they are an easy target. It is the unhinged dislike and blame game of his every move that gets old and tiresome. I think he did a decent job last year with a team that should have lost more than it did. I agree with Helsley pitching the 9th inning of those recent extra inning games to set up a situation to win in the 9th. If players executed we would have won both games. I agree the with not pinch hitting for Winn in the 4th game of a long season. You are not going to bury the kid that early. Most managers would have done the same thing. People can disagree but that doesn't make them right either.
